I almost cried when I read your post. It was so refreshing to see someone be sooo honest on here. I am a year out got down to 127 too and am now 137...got "up" to 140....ANYWAY..it was and is my eating..sometimes I eat a stick of butter a day.  I am a butter addict...and I've also been eating other crap.  I have issues with vicodin and alcohol.  Mostly vicodin.  ANYWAY...thanks for your honesty because you give people like me reassurance that we are not alone in this struggle for health and peace. All my love and wishes for you happiness.. Kayla

Denise,

I am so thankful that I found your post.  I thought I was the only one.  I heard Carnie Wilson on TV this morning talking about the same kinds of things and did not get a chance to hear what she did to stop.

The hard thing about the posts following here is the "just don't buy the wine, bread, cheese anymore".  When you have an addictive behavior, like before the surgery, it is not that simple.  We need to find a way, find help to make those behavior changes.

I'm praying for you (and for me too) that we find help and find another way to deal with why we are choosing these destructive behaviors.

I'm thinking of you.

Wow, great to see your post, and thank you for being so honest! I am 6 years out and have put on about 60 lbs in the past 2 years.  I have no doubt that the primary cause of the gain was my own "addiction transfer"  to alcohol.  Now that I can't abuse food in the "good" way, I needed something else to hurt myself with. I still don't eat a whole lot, but -like you -the buzz from ****tails either didn't last long or made me fall asleep instantly, and when I woke up, I was sober again and would make another drink to go to sleep, and thus the cycle began.  Nevermind the fact that alcohol has TONS of empty calories and sugar, but (for me) it was the equivalent of what I used food for.   I've also tried to binge, wound up dumping, waited for the pain to subside, and then jumped back into the food.  Diarreha and stomach pains be damned, I was going to get it into my belly, dammit!  :) I've since cut out the booze, tracked every single thing I've been putting in my mouth lately and already I've seen a change, perhaps not a MAJOR change, but a little of something is a HELL of a lot better than a LOT of nothing!   You know what you're doing and need to do sister, and I know it's really hard sometimes, but that's why we have boards like this -  Lean on us, we'll get each other through! Blessings and Great Big Hugs to all! N
