Hi Toni. I guess it depends on what it is you hope to accomplish by seeing a nutritionist. The bariatric program that I used assigned me a nutritionist. I saw her every four months throughout my first year as a post-op and will now see her at 18 months, 2 years and once a year from there. I'm not sure how helpful she has been to me. Basically, she looks at my average intake and says everything looks good.  If I wasn't doing something that I should be doing, I assume she would let me know. The nutritionist you are planning to see might do a lot of work for you to identify trends or patterns in your nutrition. That could be very helpful to you if you are trying to continue to lose. I'd say explore all of your options and give it a try. You don't have to go back if it isn't helpful. Good luck!

most definately,  Barix had a dietician  i saw at practically every visit there. And I saw  one at the health club where I work out for more info on nutrtional needs for working out alot and being as fit as possible.  HOWEVER, notice I said dietician. Nutrtionist is a label anyone can use, it requires no education , licensing or training. A registered dietician is a highly educated professional.  Clarify  who you  are seeing a dietician is well worth $150, an Nutritionist may or may not be.

Toni, why are you seeing a nutritionist? Are you following what your pouch tell you to take it.I f you are having problems that you thinhk it might help that go.If you are doing what you are suppose to be doing and not having any problems than it would be a waste of money and time. And remenber we all have times when we thib=nk that someone would help and in some cases it does.Like I said why do you need to go. bob

I know that every surgeon is different but I am surprised that you are a year and a half out and have never been to as nutritionist before now.  Anyway, I had to go twice before surgery and twivce post op.  SHe helped me learn how to eat, taught me portion control, helped with with vitamins, blood work, etc.  I think it was worth it.  $150 paid for the 4 sessions during the 1st year.
