So, my hubby who has never known me fat or pre WLS  has started bringing his pregnant, hormonal wife treats.  He brought home on Sunday (2) TWO bags of the new M&M Easter Big Eggs. Did I mention that they are big??? Like the size of peanut M&Ms on STEROIDS. Now, after 3 years and 10 months post op I pretty much know what will make me sick, I have had three or four of the evil M&Ms at a time off and on since Sunday. And somehow eating three or four M&Ms at a time has equaled 3/4s of the bag. Yeah, exactly!! Anyway....Today after lunch I just HAD to have something sweet, so I reached into the Drawer of the Devil (snack drawer) and instead of just getting 3 or 4 M&Ms I decided in my wisdome to grab the bag and sit down at the computer. And ate and ate and ate the damn M&Ms and so now I sit here feeling terrible, nauseated, sweating and pretty much like the idiot that I am.  ( I probably only ate 10 or 12 of them but more than enough)  It never fails to remind me that this surgery was on my stomach not my brain and that just when I least expect it, the old ways creep right back in! I truly feel as if it is a war that I will never win, but I will continue to fight valiantly and most days I win the battle. This is why even after all this time I still keep track of my food intake on fitday or now on babyfit. Those little pounds creep right back on when you let down your guard. Some days I get tired of keeping my guard up; and then I realize that I am able to walk, run, make love and I cherish my new life and it is worth ever single battle! Thanks for listening and supporting!

Definately NOT an idiot, just human...It is good to know that the old pouchie will kick in a reminder when we go overboard though... I can really relate to the feel that you have to keep your guard up constantly...Recently I started a "what are you eating" post so that I could remind myself better what is wrong and right with my food choices...Have gotten some great feedback and a couple of gentle reminders that you still have to follow the rules to keep on track and stay nutricianally sound...

Anyway, don't beat yourself up, as you noted in your post life is for living (your words "I am able to walk, run, make love and cherish my new life") ...

when there are things in the house I am craving and should not have I either throw them in the outdoor garbage can (it is disgustingly dirty) or out in the back yard for the birds to eat (last weeks box of choc chip cookies ) i ate 2 and decided if i didnt get rid of them i would eat them all.  and end up fat and sick to my stomach. I also bloat when i dump - and look huge, and cant button my pants and it takes a whole day  to go down.

Thanks Willow! That is generally what I do. I had baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies over the weekend and was eating them as well and had to send them with my husband to work to get them out of my sight!

Wow!  I went through this also!  I had my daughter almost a year ago and while I was pregnant I snacked all the time!  Most of this was at the urging of the doctor and family because the baby didn't seem to be gaining weight appropriately.  They all blamed it on my surgery but I don't think that was what it was.  I certainly gained weight fine!!!  I put on 45 pounds!  I have taken all but 15lbs off.  I was at my lowest weight when I got preggo.  The hardest thing is to get yourself back in the 'healthy eating' mindset and to quit snacking.  It's taken me almost a year.  Good luck and have a healthy pregnancy! Amy PS  My husband also never knew me before surgery.

I am trying VERY hard to snack on good choices and over all do pretty well. But some days the old habits get ahold of me and WATCH out!! I am keeping cut up veggies in the fridge at all times and that has really helped! I am determined to only gain 20# with this pregnancy and so far so good! I have a loooooong way to go though!! Thanks for your kind words!!

OH No, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I understand where you're coming from~I have only dumped once, but it was the most terrible feeling in the world!!!!!!! You're not an idiot~we all do those things from time to time. My big thing is not chewing well enough and getting something stuck~them I feel like crap until either I throw up or it passes thru. I tell my husband that it was my monthly reminder that I'm not normal,LOL!! Anyway, don't beat yourself up b/c we all do it at some point. I bet you won't want to eat anymore of those now though so you should be safe from the dreaded M&M"S!

I'm like Willow, I have to throw out anything like that or I would eventually eat the whole bag.  Put them in the garbage disposal, or take them to work and put them in the break room, they'll be gone pretty soon! I do sympathize. Hugs, Connie -147#
