Hello to all !!  I am here to ask if anyone who (like me) has regained (unfortunately) happened to notice that a good bit of your gain went straight to the middle section of your body --  specifically waisy and upper waist?   I am SO disgusted with myself as I was one of those that said- "I will NEVER regain because I can't eat" ---  what happened??   I GAINED !!!!  I was away from home for several months due to an unfortunate incident and learned to GRAZE--  chips, candy, et...   I have been reading all the posts that tell me to "go back to basics", but I am finding it EXTREMELY difficult- BUT--  I am committed this week to beginning again!!!!!   Going walking this afternoon and have had minimal carbs today-- just a start, I know.  ANYWAY --  if you have gained in the middle--  how do you lose it?  tone it?  It is so difficult to find clothes that fit- have to buy 2 sizes larger just to get my waist to fit !!!!!!   (It was so much fun in smaller sizes !!!!! - and have a closet full of 'em)    :-( PS --  I truly am still never hungry --  I just eat!!  Sigh..... Take care !! Kera W. Open RNY  3/3/03   253/110/155 (Ugh)

I am one year out but have been the same weight for about 5 months - only 10 lbs. from goal.  I have noticed that in the last couple of months my waist is getting thicker while the rest is getting a little smaller.  Not fair.  It's like it is settling with gravity or something. No words of wisdom, but empathy abounds....

Me too.  I am 15 months out and have definitely noticed lately that I'm getting thicker around the middle. What is the deal with this?

You just described me! I got back to basics this week thoiugh. I started on protien shakes again. They are definately an appetite suppressant! They make me just nauseous enough that I don't want to eat snacks!

I have noticed the same thing. I am 2 years 5 months out and find that I have a roll above the top of my jeans that I do not like. I stay within a 5# up or down, so about 150/155. I work out and still have gotten this roll it's worse in the back then the front. At least I don't have to look at it. I don't like the fact that it is there and will not go away. The muffin top thing.   Kim

I take it from your post that you maintain your weight very well.  I'm very impressed.  Care to share any secrets?  I had my surgery on 12/16/05 and have reached goal (have lost 115 lbs.).  I am, however, very scared that I will re-gain.   Thanks.   Linda

Hi Linda, I work out 3 times a week with a trainer in a group. That means a lot of cardio and free weights. And I don't like to workout at all...   I also weigh every morning to be sure I am not getting out of control. I can gain really fast. I eat breakfast every morning I find if I don't I am picking at stuff all morning. That really goes for all 3 meals if I skip any meal I find myself grazing if I eat when I am suppose to I don't have the feeling I need to graze. I have stayed at this weight now for over a year. My lowest was 143 but that is a little to low for me I kind of look sick at that weight. I have to watch really close because I am like everyone else I have a big fear of gaining anything back. It's not as hard as I thought it would be to maintain I still can only eat small amounts and have to know when to say that is it I don't need anymore or I will be sick. I think for me that is the big key don't over eat. Know when to say enough is enough. I had a lot of dumping early on so that last thing I want is to be sick after I eat.  I wear a size 8 jeans and I am happy with that except for that roll I was talking about. Those are some of my things that I follow or think about everyday. Oh I also use Sparkpeople to track what I eat and workout. Kim 11/04 269/150/153

I, too, have been battling....I've gained almost 16 lbs in the last year.  I kept a monthly journal, and it appears it is a steady, creeping gain (a pound here and 2 there).  Now, I find my middle is suddenly "bulging".  Although I have gained 16 lbs (lost 120 total) I feel almost as fat as I did BEFORE the surgery.  I can tell where every single ONE of those lbs have gone (tummy first, then inner thighs!).  It's sickening!  It's almost like it's a fat magnet.   And, I think it's worse, because I think I lost a lot of muscle.  I could wear a much smaller size after losing 120 lbs and weighing 174 lbs than I did BEFORE when I weighed even less than that (of course, that was many moons ago).  Why IS IT going directly to the middle?
