18 month labs

I had my 18 month check up yesterday. I have lost 152 pounds below the highest number on my medical record. My labs were good. My cholesterol was described as "impressive." This is great news. I also think I am actually still losing. My weight has stayed the same for a couple of months because I was sick with one winter virus after another which cabboshed my exercise plan. Now, I'm back in the pool and back walking and chicometric-ing...and my clothes are again too big. That is usually what happens before I start to lose again. It has been an amazing wild ride. My grandbaby only knows me as someone who is able to chase her around. My students from a couple of years ago don't recognize me. I can do my own housework, tie my own shoes, shovel snow, take care of my family, throw away my car seatbelt extender, ride on airplanes, walk without my cane, buy clothes off the rack and appear in public as a conductor in a black suit that makes me LOOK like the conductor. Life is good. I am grateful. Jeannie

It does feel good. I am always so happy to go back and talk to the folks at my surgical office. When I got all the good feed back I felt like I had passed some test or other. After all those years of emotional firestorms over the scale in the dr.'s office. This was great. Just great. Jeannie

I appreciate that the stay focused part of this is so important. I went through a stressful winter and it wasn't that food "called" to me like it used to...it was just that it became very hard to take care of myself when so much upheaval was going on around me. I think that's why the dr. visit, labs, etc. are so good. It focuses my attention again on what I have to do to continue to make this work. Blessings.... Jeannie
