Mammogram trouble - please help
Hello all. I had my mammogram the day before yesterday, and yesterday they called to say I had to have a magnified mammo and ultra sound today. They mentioned density that was not on my mammo last year. I was wondering if the WLS could have anything ti do with this change, since I have lost about 80 pounds since my last mammo. Please, can anyone help?
Oh Ladies,
I am so guilty of not taking care of this part of my health. I did read or hear on the news that because of the various densities of women's breast that most mamo were being modified to include another test. I didn't pay much attention and I should have as I have or at least did have dense breast.
I know that this might not be the answer but when it comes to test results I know how nervous some people become.
I hope it helps.

Jeanne,
Please please PLEASE dont ignore your mammograms. I went for my first one last year at the age of 40. I had breast cancer and I had no idea. No lump, no discomfort, no nothing....I have since had to have a mastectomy. I cant express enough to you and everyone else how important early detection of breast cancer is. I am living proof! I dont mean to nag...I just like for people to be informed.

Hi,
I remember at one of our support group meetings we were informed that the density change in mammograms is alarming to those evaluating the film. We were advised that we should inform the staff there of our recent weight loss and that there was a different kind of film that would need to be used. Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your replies. I did have the additional pictures taken (magnified), and the abnormal area in my left breast turned out to be scar tissue from a previous biopsy, and the area in my right breast is benign. Thank you so much for your concern and your help in this frightening matter. God Bless you all!
