Made an Appt
Hi Tracy,
You are successful and you have been so much help to many of us here who aregoing through the same struggles as you. I hope you can find some answers in counseling. Not all that long ago, I finally went into counseling......not only to deal with my fears about failure......but also to help me deal with my daughter's battle with anorexia. I remember when I had my psych evaluation before WLS, the counselor told me that the same gene that causes morbid obesity also can cause anorexia. My daughter and I both struggle so hard even to this day with our eating issues. I just remember my counselor telling me that when you start to take away all the fat after WLS, you have to be real careful about what you might find underneath. The point is it's really important to find out the reasons we got fat in the first place.......and then to deal with it in a healthy way.....and then maybe we can truly feel successful in our WLS journey as we adopt a new way of living.
I commend you on taking the steps and I hope you find peace with all of this. We all understand toooooooooo well how you feel and what you are saying. Good luck.
Hugs,
Joann
Tracy, I have been seeing a therapist since my psychiatric evaluation. I see her once a month as a rule, but more often if needed. I feel that having someone help me deal with my food addiction and all of the changes that occur with losing a significant amount of weight has been tremendously helpful. This is part of my overall strategy for success and ranks right up there with eating well and exercising!
I hope you find it as helpful.
