has everyone changed their diet from their first year into their second year?  i still do protein shakes and get in all my water and then some,,, i was a light weight and had 100 to lose,, i have lost and am at about 85 lbs lost,, doctors goal was 160 and i am about 163-165,, those two pounds come and go depending on the day,, my goal was to lost the 100 and get to 155,,, so how can i kick start to get those ten or more pounds off?  should i try post op diet and go liquid for a month or so??  i know my portions have gotten bigger but i am still not eating alot,, for example i couldnt eat a whole pack of single serving oatmeal and now i can,, or i can eat a well toasted english muffin in about 15 minutes instead of 30+ minutes,,, and that is my only carb for the day,, as far as breads/pastas go,, any suggestions?

yes i do exercise but i have slacked off the last two months due to moving and new job, house, life, but i am still active,, but i had plateau'd or stopped losing before i stopped the exercise so i thought maybe the same diet was doing it,, and just wondered if anyone as far out of surgery as i am had ever gone back to the post op liquid and seen results,, thanks a bunch though for the reply  !!!

Janine, I am a firm believer in that your body gets to a certain point and stops losing once you are a ways out from surgery.  I thinks it gets to a point that it is comfortable in.  I was a lightweight also and lost about 85 lbs.  Then it stopped.  My lowest was 153.  It then crawled to 160 and I bounce between 160 and 165 no matter what I do.  I think my body is where i wants to be--weight-wise.  I am sure if I starved and exercised like crazy I could lose more, but what's the point?  I know I wouldn't keep doing that forever and then my body would go back to where it wants to be.  I am maintaining and feel good about my weight.  I guess if it bothers you real bad, you should go back to the basics and measure everything.  Sometimes if you shake up your diet--rearrange it from what you have been doing...maybe a few more carbs or less meat it might jump start you.  I never tried that but have read of others doing it. My best to you and I hope you get to your "comfortable spot."

Good question, I had surgery on July 2005 so I'm about 20 month post op and have stop losing also, I've always done protein shakes every morning for the past 20 months and will continue to do so ...I love the protein shakes.   I have been @ 160/155 for the past 6 month or more...and would love to try to lose the last 20-30 pds...I'll keep an eye on this thread and hopefully someone will give us more ideas

Many Blessings

Sounds like you are doing fine to me.. my only suggest would be to stop eating the muffin or whatever in 10 minutes...for me anyways i consider it grazing  because I could take littel bites all day long if I chose. You have done great and seem to be on a good path...I do know for the long run, exercise ( oh I so hate that word heheh) s a very good idea and you didnt mention it. Good luck Diana RNY 9/17/03 360/200/ still aiming hard for 180
