My Plastic Surgery Story

Well I am 5 days post-op and thought I should post about my Breast Lift and Augmentation experience.

My surgery was last Thursday, March 8th. I woke up, desperately wanting something to drink, but that is a NO NO because my doctor wouldnt let me eat/drink past midnight the night before. I drove the 30min to Plymouth, MN to the West Health Surgical Center and checked in. Within just a few minutes they called me back to my room where I disrobed and put on my hospital gown, teds, and footies. We sat there for a bi****ching TV then the anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself and told me what they would be doing. Then a nurse came in to go over my procedure paperwork and verifying everything and mentioned to me that they would be sticking something up my BUTT for anti- nausea (gross! I dont want medicine up my behind!). She said they would do it once I was under and not to worry about it... she probably should have just not mentioned it then. Dr. Fasching then came in and I stripped so that he could do his markings and I told him again what size I wanted to be. He made quite a few marks as my mom looked on. Then he left and another nurse came to get me. My mom teared up and I said ADIOS! We walked to the surgery room which was gorgeous! LOL... really it was. It was in a corner of the building and had 2 walls of windows. It was nice and sunny out... just really nice. I hopped on the table and they covered me up with some warm blankets. They started the IV as one of the other nurses rubbed my other arm - maybe she thought I was nervous - but I really wasn’t. Dr. Fasching came in and he asked how I was. He said that my mom looked more nervous than I was and he saw her tear up. He said before he started he would go out and just comfort her telling her that he would take good care of me. What a nice guy.. Seriously. Well they told me to take a few deep breathes and that was it.

I woke up in the recovery area in a bed. I just remember being really sore in the chest. I rated my pain as a 7 (1-10). Not "painful" just sore. So they gave me some drugs and kept asking me if I was nauseous. I wasn’t at all. About 20min later I got into my recliner chair and they wheeled me back to my private recovery room. My mom came in and things were good. I finally got to drink some water... so GOOD! I was there for about another 30min then my mom helped me get dressed and they put me in a wheelchair. They wheeled me downstairs and got into the car. Off we went. Bumps were kind of rough, but not bad. I got home and popped in some Oxycodone and took a snooze. I really only slept about an hour then I was up the rest of the night. I am NOT a back sleeper - it is all on the stomach for me, but they require you to sleep on your back for at least 10 days. I just decided it would be better to sleep in the recliner that night. I only woke up a couple times to use the bathroom. I really wasn’t that sore that night.... then I woke up about 9am and couldn’t move! My arms were sooooo sore to move. I had my follow-up appt at 11am so we were off to the docs office again.

I walked from the entrance to the docs office and then to the exam room. I was pretty sore still. They cut off the ace wrap and I got to see my new boobies for the first time. BIG!!! OMG! I loved them! LOL. The doctor came in and examined them. He said they look really good and he gave me some cream to put on one of my nipples that looked a little more brusied than the other one (some cream to open up the capillaries). He said it would heal faster that way. Well I could feel most of my right breast and nipple but the left one was completely numb. We put on my sports bra which felt 10x better and we were off.

Me and my mom left the office and went out to eat lunch. Then we went shopping… crazy right!?!? I didn’t walk – my mom just wheeled me around in a wheelchair all afternoon. It was relaxing. I really wasn’t tired and it was better than sitting at home.

The next morning I took my first shower… talk about having a hard time washing your hair. I couldn’t really reach my arms above my head. It felt good though. I got dressed and we went to the Mall of America where we did more shopping… me in the wheelchair. The following, Sunday, I did a lot of resting.

Monday, I went back to work. It was odd because I did tell a few people at work so as soon as I walked in the door they came up to me and looked at my chest. I did a shorter day – maybe only like 6.5 hrs of work which wasn’t bad because I sit at my desk most of the day.

Today is day 5 and I feel great. I have been taking pictures every other day and they have really changed a lot since day 1. I will post a link to those once I have them uploaded. Thursday I go for my week post-op appt. He is going to teach me how to massage them then. I will have to massage 4x daily for a few weeks, then 2x daily.

I am really happy about the results and really happy with my surgeon. He is the best!

I did look up some specs on my implants. They are 500cc High Profile Silicone Gel. 5”wide and about 2” deep. Together they are about 2.5lbs. I have my surgical tape on still which should fall off within a week or so. I have a scar around the nipple, vertically from the nipple to the breast crease and about 5” along the crease. You’ll be able to see that in the pictures that I post tonight.

So glad to hear things went well for you Melissa and you are happy with the procedure.  I'm also glad to hear your comments about Dr. Fasching.  I had a consult with him last summer and when I finally get ready to have my work done I plan to go back to him.      Good Luck with everything!!

To attain excellence, you must care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical.

Thank you SO much for sharing all the details.  I have to wait until finances allow for some PS (like when both of my babies are out of day care and in school!) but I'm definitely doing my research now.  So you went back to work after DAYS of surgery - that is great to hear.  So glad you're doing so well and so happy with the results!
