Good luck,

I had a colonoscopy 10 days ago. The "bowel prep" was the hard part. Gagging down the phospho soda was disgusting, but doable. I thought it would be hard to go so many hours, 36 or so, without food but it was not. The actual procedure was a breeze. Not one minute of pain or discomfort that day or any time since. Good luck to you.
As others have written, the procedure is a piece of cake. It's the preparation that's tough. There are various preparations available to clean out the bowel. The Gastroenterologist I used routinely prescribes Half Lytely since there is half the amount of liquid needed to get you cleaned out. I told him up front it was very unlikely that I would be able to do an 8 oz glass of liquid every 10 mins and he was fine with that. It took me a few hours to get all the liquid in but I was able to do it and the results were the same as if I took the 64 oz in 80 minutes. Good luck with the test. It's a good thing you'll be doing for yourself. If all goes well you won't need another one for 5 years. Wilma
