Medifast

I just celebrated my third anniversary of WLS. Started out at 263, dropped to 156 and now weigh 175 - a 19lb gain. I follow the "rules" although I could get more excercise in (i'm working on it). I am so depressed over my weight gain and have tried a number of ways to shed these extra pounds including Weigh****chers and South Beach to no avail. Finally out of desperation, I ordered a month supply of Medifast (5 Medi meals and one lean and green meal you prepare yourself).  Has anyone tried Medifast? If so, what was your outcome? I should also note that at times I am worried about the amount of food I can eat. On a typical day I eat between 27 - 30 oz spread out through the course of the day, however, there have been days when I can eat 15 + oz in one siiting. I tried the cottage cheese test and honestly I can eat a good portion of the 16oz container, if not all of it.  It's back to boot camp for me ... a never ending battle.  -Heather.

I'm sorry you're having these problems with weight gain.  I had my surgery in December of 2005 and I'm always afraid of the possible weight gain.  I'm curious -- what is the cottage cheese test?  Thanks.

I did medifast preop. It works good lots of vitamins.  Most of the meals have around 10 grams of protein each.   The soups really suck but you can deal with it.  THe shakes are good.  prob be ahead of the game just to buy walmart protein drink that and have a healthy dinner tho.  Give their soy chips a try they are yummy

The cottage cheese test gives you an idea of how large your pouch is. Basically you eat as much cottage cheese as you can in one sitting and however much you were able to eat indicates the size of your pouch.

Honey, I did it all, Nutrisystem and medifast, diet pills, starve/binge, but medifast,,well it was nastyyyyyyyy---- they had these bars, breakfast bars I believe and the only one I could stomach was the cinnamon raisin one.  The soups taste like ditch water, and well,,,you get the idea!!! I'd just start over with the basics like you just had surgery and do the protein first and just move more,,it would be easier than eating medifast....good luck!!!

"I tried the cottage cheese test and honestly I can eat a good portion of the 16oz container, if not all of it. " You can eat 2 cups in one sitting... I think most of us can.  It may not be how much you are eatting, but -what- you are eatting.  I echo everyone else... go back to dense proteins and just backfill with the sides. Also remember that weight loss is slower, the lighter you are.

Your profile doesn't state what type of WLS you had. I would stay away from anything that made me give up one food type. Optifast, medifast- they helped me acheive a morbidly obese state because you can't HELP but to gain the weight back! Try sugar busters or weigh****chers. It is sensible and balanced. Make sure you get enough fluids in a day. I aim for a gallon of water (liquids) per day! It really does help. Excercise is wonderful and can become fun once you start moving. It also helps the endorphins to help with that depression. You'll feel like you are doing something!

It is good that you are getting your weight under control now instead of waiting!
