Has anyone taken Zyban sustained release tablets after RNY??   I'm almost two years out and I just got these pills to quit smoking.  I was reading all of the warnings and side effects...and honestly, I'm scared out of my mind to take these things!  Maybe I'm just being silly... But I was wondering if anyone else had taken them and what it was like for you?  Any issues?  Did it work?  Any and all input is appreciated.   I would really like to quit smoking and if there's something else out there that has worked for you, please share what you know! Thanks! Pam

Hi Ginger, I've no experience with Zyban, I'm smoke free now since January 27th.  I did the patch for 3 days and decided to go cold turkey.  First 72 hours were tough but since then it's been pretty easy, a couple of times when I was stressed I wanted a cigarette but I've got incentive due to plastic surgery this coming Wednesday, I have to be smoke free. I've heard others talk about a new drug called Chantix specifically to help stop smoking and it's suppose to be the best, cost a good bit, some insurances will pay others want but depending on what you pay for cigarettes per month it would probably be a comparible. Good luck, it's well worth it and I hope I never go back to smoking. Dana

Zyban is the same drug as Wellbutrin - also used as an antidepressant.  I have been on it for years and I pity the poor soul that ever comes between me and my Wellbutrin.  It has made a huge difference in my life. I take 300 mg every single day and have NO side effects whatsoever.  I was reluctant to take antidepressants, I felt like I should be able to just get over it. But after years of untreated depression, I  had forgotten what it felt like to feel good.  Tje med dint make me feel "drugged" or anything like that, just that my mood gradually lifted over several weeks and I feel really good right now.
