Anyone out there have a revision from an RNY?
I am pretty new here and have only posted once or twice before, but I had my surgery 12/1/03 and have gained about 40 lbs back from my lowest weight. Yes, I know I have to regain control of my habits and am working on that, but decided to have my pouch/stoma checked out as well. I have an appt. coming up to talk about a sclerotherapy treatment or a possible revision. Just wondering if anyone has had a revision from the rny and what type did you have?
Thanks for any input!
Theresa
I am interested in the answer to this question too Theresa. I lost 90 pounds, never made it to goal, and have recently gained 20 and do not seem to be losing it. I have gone back to just protein, not working. I have gone off all carbs, not working. I am just trying to eat sensibly and no results yet. I walk a lot and have started weight training too. My surgeon mentioned the word "revision" to me recently at a support meeting. Not sure I qualify or not, but I have an appt to see my surgeon on 3/20. Some gal suggested that he did not cut off enough of the intestines, which he also said is possible. He may just have to go back in and cut out more? Still surgery , though maybe not as radical as redoing my pouch. Let me know any info you find out.

Thanks Karen! I never made it to my goal either, about 20 lbs from it, but had lost 125 altogether, so I had my tt too, and now this weight gain....I just hate it! And it's such a cycle....the fatter I feel, the more I spiral down and what to nibble on things I shouldn't. Crazy. Anyway, yes, I;m looking forward to having things looked at. I will keep you all posted!
Hugs, Theresa
Theresa, I don't have any personal knowledge on revisions but wanted to share the OH Revision board link with you http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/Revision/ and let you know I participate in another WLS on-line support group that has many long-term post-ops on it and a good number of revisions. If you are interested I can email you the link, just PM me your email address.
I think you are wise to visit your surgeon to check your pouch and stoma. There could possibly be a mechanical problem that has caused to you gain some weight. Do you know what type of procedure you had proximal vs. distal and how much were you bypassed?
