Wow girl that is terrible, I feel for you so much,,,have you considered a revision or a scope to see if you have a stricture ?  No one has the right to make fun of your problems, you just need to keep persisting until someone helps you--you have 2 kids to worry about and you have to be well to help them.  You may be one of those few % of people that have to have their surgeries reversed do to so many problems,,but it could be as simple as your nerves, but either way there is no need in this day and time to play the guessing game.

BOTTOM LINE,,DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!

Hi Beulah, A revision is when they go back to the original Rny and re- adjust it depending on what kind of problem your having. With her being very underweight, and not being able to eat, I'd probably get it put back together because at this stage it is unhealthy. She definitely needs some help poor thing...and I hope they are able to help her.

I totally understand why you are freaking out.  Being underweight as badly as you are is just as dangerous and unhealthy as being obese.  There is definitely a such thing as being too thin.  And I am shocked that your GB surgeon doesn't think you are too thin and help you do something about it.  I would be tempted to report him.  It is his job to take care of his patients after the surgery.  93 pounds is like what anorexics weigh which can be dangerous for your heart.  Do not give up.  You keep pushing until you find a doctor that will help you.  Good luck and I am so sorry you are so sick and can't get the care you need. As far as people on here making fun of you for being too thin and sickly, that is absolutely terrible.  I can't imagine why anyone on here would even dare do that because you know they know what it feels like to be treated badly because of weight.  Just ignore them.  They will get theirs. First I am so sorry to hear about your experiences.  I pray that everything will soon take a turn for the better.  Your surgeon, I would definitely have to report him, it his is duty to make sure that your health is not being compromised.  Your PCP i am sorry but he should be of more help, telling you to go to church and pray is not help.  I would be inclined to try to find a new PCP and another surgeon that might be able to shed some light on whats going on.   My labs are not good either well for my iron, we are currently working on trying to increase my levels.  I have to make another appt to see my surgeon to see if IV transfusion will be necessary.  My doctors do not understand how I can walk around since my iron is low.  I do continue to take all of my vitamins and iron.   Have you tried meal replacement to aid you in to controlling your weight.  Maybe add some protein shakes and eat more often maybe every 2 hours instead of every 3 to 4 hours to try and slow down the weight loss and increase it a bit.  What foods do agree with you, try eating more of those foods more often.  I know your having problems keeping food down but try breaking it down to almost a liquid to see if that helps.  I am sorry i dont have a more solid answers, I will keep you in my prayer.

Hi,

I don’t post often but I feel for you. I also had a lot of your problems. I also have low pb the doctors don't worry about it and  I have been to a lot of doctors. I was seeing and endocrinologist that had me on a mess of diabetes meds that made me really sick. I went back to my PCP and she put me on Nortriptyline for my constant headaches (only got them after surgery) and the throwing up. She  gave me  promethazine that helps with the upset stomach after I eat. I am 5’8 and was down to 145. To low for my height and looked really sick and people were telling me that. I am now taking more meds then before surgery but my weight has gone up to about 153 and I stay there. I still dump but not as often. I have to be careful not to eat to much and no sugar. I was to the point that I would rather not eat I was sick of getting sick and my blood sugar would go sky high and then bottom out. I know my blood sugar still goes up and down when I have not eaten in a while so I try to control that. I get shaky and can feel it happening. The endocrinologist said there is something happening with the hormones in my stomach that they know nothing about. He also said the nortriptyline seems to stop what is ever happening. Sometimes it is just a guessing game for them because they do not know what is happening not enough research on it. Keep after your doctor to give you something to make you feel better. The depression just makes it all a million times worse.

You may have to try a few different things until you find the right one but it’s worth it. I would try to find something to help before I think about a reversal I was told it was my only way out and I said no way I didn’t come this far to take it all apart now.

Amy, I have not had surgery yet, but I have been researching it for months and have finally completed the insurance company requirements.. just waiting on approval!  But I cannot imagine the immense struggle you are going through right now, both physically and emotionally.  How maddening to be sent in circles by people who are supposed to be helping you! But what I DO know is that you have a right to quality healthcare and you must INSIST on it - even if that means not leaving your surgeon's/PCP office until you are given a satisfactory answer and care that leads to long-term relief.  I would encourage you to approach your recovery from multiple angles...  First, go back to the basics.... stick with liquids and protein shakes that are easier on your pouch.  Then try soft foods and chew chew chew chew chew!  Make sure you're taking a good multivitamin and iron.  (Sugar-free Flintstones chewables are popular amongst the members of the WLS support group I attend.)  Ask yourself honestly if, amongst your job and taking care of your children, you are taking enough time to get adequate nutrition and rest.  We women have such a nack for forgetting what we need in the midst of frantically helping everyone else! Second, you mentioned your stress level is through the roof, which is entirely understandable given the tremendous changes your body has undergone is such a short amount of time.  Have you thought about meditation and counseling to help calm your nerves?  Pastors and clergy may be able to offer you counseling services for free and many counselors use sliding-fee scales based on your income.  Some cost as little as $5 a session.  Calming your mind and spirit may help you feel more in control and help you see your way more clearly to find solutions. Most of all, I would just encourage you to be the most active advocate you can for your own care.  You know your body best and are the expert on recognizing the "help me!" signals it's sending.  Don't stop seeking help until the doctors provide relief. I'm not a doctor, but your story just sends up so many red flags that I wanted to write you words of support.  I send you great love, encouragement and prayers! Heather
