I had surgery in 2002. I think the choices you make look mostly ok, but the portions are far larger (probably 3X as much as I can eat. For example I may have a 8 oz yogurt with a 1/2 cup of bran buds for breakfast. I can eat 1 hot dog, with a side dish, if it were beans, maybe 1/2 -3/4 cup. 1 scrambled egg with a table spoon of cheese and a tablespoon of salsa and 1 piece of toast or whole wheat tortilla. ( I feel like I eat a lot  for having had an RNY) today I had a "light day" Breakfast - 1 cup of oatrmeal with raisins,  Snack about 1/2 C nuts and dried cranberries trail mix lunch 1/2 pita pocket with 2 slices deli turkey and 1 slice tomato, and about 3/4 cup of cooked broccoli, snow peas  blend.  snack - one way protein bar. (15 grams protein 12 grams carbs, 9 grams fat) dinner 1/2 c gnocci with a couple tablespoos brucheta sauce and about 1 cup steamed veggies - broccloi rabe, asparagus and crimini mushrooms snack cheese stick If you are able to eat that much maybe your surgery is failing you.  definately follow up with  a surgeon  and dietician. Even on the smaller amounts I eat I MUST exercise regularly 4-6 times a week to maintain. I feel like I struggle with maintainece and my weight does fluctuate 5 pounds on a regular basis. I am working off 5 pounds from the holidays still, down 2 , up 1, down 1 up 2..... I have some menus I follow on my profile as well.

Hey Kathy! First of all I commend you for your honesty of what you eat. I know that can be hard. I do agree with everyone else that your portions are too big but I also think you are making the wrong choices. Cottage cheese, yogurt,  and eggs are not dense foods. They do not really stay in the pouch that long. I think if you were to eat very dense foods such as chicken, beef and fi**** would stay with you longer and you wouldn't be able to eat as much. Good luck, you did it once you can do it again!

Hi, Kathy.  I would have to agree with some other posters here that you should get your surgery checked out to make sure it is still intact.  If your stomach was not transected (cut in two) and only stapled, you could have a staple line disruption that would allow you to eat larger portions.  That would be my first order of business.

If everything is intact with your surgery, then I would say you need to work on slowly lowering your portion sizes and perhaps getting away from some of the high-fat choices.  Instead of changing too much, though, maybe you could try reducing what you eat by 1/3.  For instance, 2 containers of yogurt, 1/2 banana, and 8 oz of cottage cheese; 2 eggs and 4 slices of cheese, with 2 slices of bacon; 1 cup of cereal.  I don't think your lunch choices sound too bad except for the KFC thing - that's pretty high fat.  Dinner - same thing.  I think maybe you're choosing high-fat stuff too much, and going a little too heavy on the hard cheeses. Exercise is one of my most difficult struggles, too.  I certainly can't comment on anyone else's lack of motivation there.  It's tough!  But also something that we really need to do.  Even if it's just walking for a little while each day. Best wishes, Carlita

Good Morning To All: I've been in contact with my weight management physician and I have an appointment to see him next month.  Spoke with his assistants via speaker phone regarding all my concerns and they were great (as you all are) in helping to get me back on track. The fact is that I'm never hungry.  I'm now getting myself together to move myself to lose that 65 lbs.  I know that I've been eating too much and need to make reductions and alternative food choices.  I'll be in contact with my support person during the week via phone and she will be there for me as I was there for her.  I'm going to do the stationary bike for my exercise at least 30 minutes a day.   I have to do this to feel better about myself and to be here for my great grandchildren!!!! I've seen myself slowly move from the "positive" attitude to a less positive attitude and I'm going to get that positive attitude back again.  I realize that I just can't eat like I've been eating and need to change my eating selections, eating habits and begin an exercise routine.   I'll need help to keep myself motivated.  I'll keep you posted at least once a week on my status.  At least by doing this, I know that I need to report to somebody on my progress. You all have a great weekend. Take care and thank you all for your input.   Kathy

I know I'm later here, but I give you props for your honesty in facing your food addiction.   I will be praying for you.  Hugs, Tracy
