What is This?
Yesterday I had the scariest experience that I've had post-surgery. Now, I know that when you read this you are going to say "well, you deserved that", but please hear me out. I was feeling fine and had a salad with grilled chicken for lunch with some yogurt. Then, I ate a small package of chocolate covered raisins at about 12:30. Normally, I would never have eaten the entire package, but I was CRAVING chocolate. I had my protein shake at 3:30 and then I ate a whole package of ":Spree" candies. I also was drinking caffeinated coffee which I don't usually do. Anyway, at a few minutes after 5:00 I began to have that "blood sugar dropping" feeling. I got really shakey, faint, and weak. I do that sometimes after eating sugar, but this time it was REALLY bad. I ate a high-protein bar on the way home and it was STILL really bad. I checked my sugar and it was 195 (I am NOT diabetic, but my mom is, so I check my sugar levels whenever I want to) which was not unusual since I had just eaten that protein bar. But, the scary thing is that these feelings continued for about 3 hours! My heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest and I actually considered going to the ER. My question is, was that a "real" dumping episode and has anyone else had one to last that long? I feel much better this morning, but am still a little queasy... Any insight would be valuable!! Thanks and Hugs, Pam
Thats exacty how I feel when I dump. All I want to do it go to bed and sleep it out for a couple of hours. Sometimes, all I can do is sleep. I feel like I am going to pass out from fatigue and my heart pounds, my hands shake and my head spins. Not fun.
Hope you feel better.
Cathy

Thanks so much for the reply. My surgery was 2.5 years ago and that is the first "official dumping" episode I think that I have had.
I finally decided that it was a combination of too much sugar and too much caffeine. Anyway, it ate my lunch!!! Obviously I am becoming more sensitive to sugar as I go along. Which is really a GOOD thing since I have major problems staying away from chocolate!!! It just scared me that it lasted as long as it did...
I am much better today thanks. and Thanks again for replying.
