good morning everyone, a few weeks ago i wrote here about my iron woes and how the Repliva I was taking for Iron made me really sick... well it looks like I may have been wrong!  it could have been my PEANUT BUTTER! I am sure you have heard all about the samanilla outbreak in peanut butter. of course I had one of those jars and because it takes up to 72 hours to have any symptoms I never associated my problems to my peanut butter peanut butter is a staple in my life,  its a great source of protein if you are running low in the evening. I will most likely still eat it but I have changed brands for now. anyway, on new years day around 3 i got really nausious and my gut was cramping.  I had some other symptoms but wont go there.  I had been taking my Replive for my low iron for about 7 days and felt that since I have had other problems with iron pills in the past, then this was the culprit. I went to my family doctor a few days later and he sent me to a hemotologist.  I stopped taking the iron Repliva and was given two infusions of INFED, each one taking 4 hours a week apart.  I feel better and will get my iron levels checked again next month. a few weeks after my episode, my husband got really sick, his symptoms were very simular to mine but he said a BUG was going around at work and he went to the doctor who just said to take Imodium and drink plenty of fluid because he was slightly dehydrated.    so last week the news reports about the peanut butter and yep, I had one of the jars.  I tossed it out but was really worried about myself becuse just the day before I had a peanutbutter and sf jelly sandwich while i was having my iron infusion....  I had an appointment at another doctor 4 hours away and did not want to be sick again... thankfully I did not get sick... this time SO, if you are a peanut butter eater and was recently sick, this may be why... One positive thing is I went to the hemotologist and he is going to find out how to keep my iron up. and since the two infed infusions, i feels a lot better have a good day Donna 277/150ish

Wow, Donna!  You are the third person I have seen posting a problem with the "bad" peanut butter!!   With all of us out here that rely on peanut butter as a staple in our diet, I'm surprised more folks haven't been sick!!! So glad that you are feeling better!!! Hugs! Kristi

Dear fellow peanut butter lover, I'm so sorry you were one of the ones who got sick from the tainted peanut butter.

I too love my peanut butter.  I have found a brand that I love.  It is Smart Balance and it is loaded with the good Omega-3's.  It tastes like a very natural peanut butter but doesn't need refrigeration.  It seems to be very nutritious.

I hope your iron levels stay up.  Good luck.
