Chime in everyone... especially you lurkers out there!  LOL! 1.  First name or name you go by on the boards: Diane 2.  Surgery type: Open RNY 3.  Surgery date: June 30, 2004 4.  How far post-op: Almost 3 years 5.  Highest weight: 335 6.  Day of sugery weight: 303 7.  Goal weight: 140 8.  Current weight: 186 9.  Low weight post-op if different than current weight: 150 10.  Biggest struggle as a post-op: Snacking . . .  ALSO, I had excess skin removed from my stomach and tops of my legs in October 2006. A month or so later, I started gaining weight at the rate of five pounds per week. That leveled off after about a 20 pound weight gain. I'm retaining mega amounts of fluid . . . so I'm going back to square one and starting all over again. About a year ago at Christmas, I made the mistake of accepting some sugar free candy. That has posed another challenge. But I will not be defeated . . .

Christine Lap RNY 5/10/06 One year Highest weight: 322 Day of surgery: 314 Goal: 175 Current weight: 186 Biggest struggle as a post-op: Initially my biggest struggle... not really what I would call a struggle but rather a readjustment... was a feeling that my senses were being overwhelmed. The best illustration I can give was feeling physically overwhelmed and actually exhausted from people standing so close to me. We use the term almost as a cliche but I actually experienced sensory overload. I wasn't use to people standing so close to me and touching me. I adjusted but it took a few months. Among other things, I study behavior so it is very interesting for me to observe how I am treated differently than I was when I was obese. I wonder when it is because I have changed my ways of being and when I am actually being treated differently? Let's not even get into how men treat me differently.

My name is Cindy 2. Open RYN : Dr Totoro 3.Sept 24,2003 4. 3 years 8 months 5. 288  6. 288 7. 160 8. 150/155 9. 138 10. Is controlling my emotional eating. That seems to have always been a biggy with me...and so I have to be careful not to be eating just to be eating... Also in the beginning...I lost more weight than I probalby should have...and got alot of negative stuff from my family...so trying to eat more with out feeding the monster...was very scarey...You know, always before...I could lose the weight, but as soon as I started eating normal...and I mean normal like everyone else the pounds came on...and then it was like...well why try...if I can't eat normal like everyone else...might as well eat as much as I want....Any way you know the story...it is hard to relearn that part... But so far...If I put on a pound or two...I can pay attention to what I am doing wrong and without giving up too much...the pounds come right back off... So There you have it... Basically I am very very happy with my weight loss and wish I had done it years ago... Cindy
