Has anyone gone on vacation and not gained weight?? I know they say the average weight gain during a vacation is 5-7lbs, but I'm hoping not to gain that (b/c I don't want to have to work it back off, LOL!). We are going to Florida for 2wks~part of the time will be spent at my parents house so I will be able to eat pretty normal, but the other half of the time we'll be in a hotel so that means alot of eating out. Any tips or advice?? Thanks in advance!!!!

Tracy, We went to Las Vegas in October and I never gained. We ate out ALL the time. I was scared too. But I just tried to order things with protein. Of course I ate a few NO NO's also. We are human after all. Even had a couple margaritas and still maintained. You will do fine. Have fun! Rhonda

Tracy; I've had one trip since surgery (15 months) where I didn't lose. That trip I maintained. I lose when I travel. I think it has to do with eating foods I don't normally at home and having more time to walk and explore. I travel a lot for both business and personal (the longest I've been home since 11/1 is 18 days). I lose 2-4 lbs. each trip, so I have to try to gain during the 2-3 weeks I'm home between trips. Right now, I'm 8 lbs. below goal (I lost 4 lbs. in New Orleans last weekend). Fortunately, I'm home for a record 29 days this stretch so I can hopefully add some weight on before I head out on the road again. When I travel, I'm always in restaurants. A lot of times I split meals with someone or when I'm traveling for work, many times, we'll order family style - 4 entrees and 2 sides for 6 people and pass the plates. Everyone gets to try a lot of different new foods and we're all satisfied but not stuffed. Have fun in Florida!

Girlfriend, you're the only person I know who can lose weight in New Orleans!!!  I haven't been there since I had my surgery, but, man, the food there is sooooo good, and sooooo rich! Hugs, Connie

Yeah, I'm not sure how/why my body is like that. It does scare me now that I'm so much below goal. (My surgeon told me to stop losing 20 lbs ago.) I had spent the 18 days between Richmond and New Orleans eating everything that wasn't bolted down to get back to 144 so I'd have a buffer and couldn't. In New Orleans, we ate great, but I don't eat more than a bite of anything that I know won't give me energy benefits, so I stuck with grilled shrimp or crab meat at most meals. I'm hoping I can gain weight between now and my next trip leaving 3/12. That trip is a 6 day to Chicago and NY and I'm scared of what I'll look /feel like if I go below 135.

Wow, you do ALOT of traveling!!! Sounds like you've seen and done lots of fun things! It would be great to come back a few pounds lighter or at least the same! Ordering family style is a great idea~thanks! Editing to ask~do you think you drop weight while traveling b/c you don't eat enough? Don't make the time to eat? Etc???

Honestly, I think it's because I have about 7-10 foods that I eat when I'm at home. I just rotate them. I don't really venture away from them. But, when I'm traveling, I indulge in more variety. Plus, when I'm traveling, I'm usually out doing things in the evening and not snacking after dinner as much. I always get 3 meals/day and at least 80g of protein, but I think when I'm on the road I'm probably eating less carbs and since I'm not sitting at my desk, I'm getting more activity. When I'm traveling, I allow myself to take a cab from the airport to my hotel and back to the airport, but otherwise, I try to walk everywhere.
