Problems with Vitamin D?
I am two years post op. I had blood drawn less then one month ago and my Vitamin D levels are very low for the first time. My primary physician had me start taking 50,000 units of Vitamin D twice a week and I will have repeat blood work done after one month on the supplement. I will also see the surgeon next week to see what his thoughts are. Has anyone else run into this problem?
Many of us have Vit. D issues. It's not uncommon at all.
I was put on 4,800 iu per day after the first 3 mos. The 50,000 i.u. is just a Rx to get your Vit. D to rise quickly. Once it does, make sure they have you getting enough Vit. D everyday. Then you should be ok. Mine has been normal ever since.

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

I'm right there with you my Vit D came back at 9.4 and should be over 32, so I was on 50,000u for 5 days, they retested and I was normal and that was it, now I'm back to just taking my calcium with D in it. I am seeing an endocrinologist next month. Low Vitamin D can cause hyperparathyroidism and once that starts its very hard to control. Hopefully the endocrinologist will get me on a different supplement so I don't have this problem anymore. Google Low Vitamin D in bariatric patients there's alot to learn.
