5 Years Post-op

I never thought when I first joined this website as an obese person looking for information on the gastric bypass, that I would be sitting here over 5 years later posting this. For my complete story, go to my web page. I'll keep this brief. The bypass surgery was the best thing I ever did and 5 years later, I would do it again in a heartbeat. 5 years later I am healthier, look better, move better, fit into normal sized clothes, no longer feel as if I am being stared at, have more self-confidence, eat better (not always eat right but much better and much less than I did 5+ years ago!), and have a healthier marriage. The surgery does work. Its not all it takes, as you have heard a million times, its a tool to help you help yourself. But with the tool, and some work on your part (and I still struggle with the work part!!), you can lose the weight, keep it off, live healthier and most of all happier.

Cindy; Congrats on a happier and healthier 5 years! I think we all worry that we may not be long term successes and stories like yours give us inspiration and let us know we CAN make it happen. Blessings, Jennifer

I enjoyed your post and it gives me hope of being a long-term success. My surgery was in December of 2005 and I worry all the time about blowing this. However, I am thrilled that I had this surgery and would do it again.

Like the others posted Cindy.. thanks for the update and inspiration for long term success. Congratulations to you and hope you have continual successes with WLS and life. Also, good luck in that corporate job.. I know what you mean about resisting food in the workplace. That is my biggest challenge these days..
