Some of you mentioned Pouch-Rules. Do you think I really still HAVE a pouch, and not a full-sized tummy by now??

Hi, I agree with everything everybody else posted. I wanted to answer your question about your pouch. Nobody will know if you've stretched it unless you go in and have a medical procedure done (endoscopy, I think?). I don't think that they would find you have a full size stomach. While you may have stretched the limits of your original pouch, I'm sure it hasn't gotten as large as your original stomach. You still have your tool and it is able to work for you....stop letting destructive behaviors get in the way. Please don't think I'm flaming you, I'm not. I know it's hard once you pick up bad behaviors again to let them go. Take Care, Terry

you might have a bigger pouch but with self control and support you will get through this. keep your head right and focused on your goal and you will do it. get rid of the sinful food......... replace all drinks with water also try lipton diet green tea if you need something. one thing I have learned is that if I crave something....I will eat a small amount or I will eat everything in sight if I dont eat what my craving is. like chocolate once a month..... we will help you

At a meeting I attended, I gleaned that the pouch doesn't get bigger, except it may get "stretchier". I stretches out to handle more food if it's ingested and then when digested, goes back to its original size. The problem is..... if we get used to eating more, the pouch will accommodate that... so, although we can't fix what we stretched it to, we can limit what is eaten and it will work again for us. It's like the temperpedic mattress I have. They say it molds to our frame. Baloney! what happens is that the cells deflate from the heat of the body and nothing will bring that back. Once deflated, that's it.... but they call that "molding" to the body's frame. THE RESULT IS---THERE IS NO MAJIC. It's all marketing. So...our pouch may act the same. In other words, it's very accommodating, so you have to be aware and start accommodating your feelings and not the pouch. It will be there to be worked with FOREVER. That's how blest we are with this surgery. Again, good luck in decifering what it is that is making you antsy and wanting to eat. I know (really know) where you are coming from. lol Marilyn

Shannon - If you are unsure of your pouch size, do the cottage cheese test to find out! Get a container of cottage cheese - at least 8 ounces or more (preferably more). Eat rapidly from the container until you are COMFORTABLY FULL (for approximately 10-15 minutes). When you are COMFORTABLY FULL, refill the container with water (yes, pour it directly on top of the remaining cottage cheese, but DON'T MIX IT). Then carefully pour the water into a measuring cup to determine how many approximate ounces of cottage cheese you ate. This will give you a BALL PARK estimate of the size of your pouch. Remember - everyone is different, so pouch sizes are always going to be different. The average is anywhere from 6 ounces to 12 ounces. Some smaller, some larger. The cottge cheese test is an estimate, at best. Food density is a big factor when guessing pouch size - as we all know, we can eat a lot more salad than we can solid meat! Good luck!!! Hugs! Kristi

Yep, you still have a pouch, your tool will still work if you work it. I find if I really stick to the rules I can still drop weight pretty easily~its when I don't follow the rules that the pounds creep back on. Tracy B

Shannon, One more thing....... I have been checking in with this wonderful board daily lately. It really does help keep me honest..with myself. I see the efforts we all are going thru, what our demons are, and how we can overcome them. The support here is undeniably the best you can hope for. It is helping me stay true to my self commitment. Just remember, we ALL have our demons to deal with. All of us stumble and need to brush off and start all over. This is going to be an uphill battle for all of us for the rest of our lives. We have to remember that when we choke down the handful of vitamins we take, when we have to drink an icky protein shake we may not be too crazy about, and especially when we walk in to a store or restaurant. Make good, healthy choices. Your life depends on it! And so does your family. I agree with Tammy, a previous post. I do it for them as much as I do it for myself. Much love, Laura
