Hi! I am 2 years post-op. I had lap rny on January 10, 2005. I have been doing fine, except that once in a great while I get this sharp pain on my right side. By any chance has anyone else experienced this type of pain? It is near the area where your appendix is and is just centralized in the front of my abdomen. I sometimes wonder if I might have gallstones or possibly a hernia in my bowels. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful week everyone!!! Aloha, Pat

I think you need to get checked out by your doc. It could be anything from gallstones to an ulcer. See a doctor.

Yes I have them if I try to eat anything solid. yes it could be a herina in the intestine even though I am still having a hard time they did find two and reparied them > I am sad to say I have a huge host of issues but that ws the one that caught my attention. You might also have an ulcer you shoul ask them to scoe you to make sure. I hope everything else is going well for you... All i want is a darn salad. :'( it has been three long years for me with not food of substance..liquid diet.....:-@ but that is a whole other email...so have them do a hide-n-scan for your gall bladder, if a ultra sound doesn't s how stones. I would also ask for a endoscope for an ulcer. They did do the hernia repair on my large intestine laproscopic so..it is so workth it if it will fix your problem...good luck...

Pat- Do you still have your appendix? These are classic signs of a pending appenditis. Go see your doctor for a workup if you still have that little bugger! Better to get it diagnosed and yanked before it becomes an emergency. A ruptured appendix, as you know, can you life threathening. All the best.

4 years ago I had a TT and hernia repair...about 18 months following my WLS. My hernia repair got horribly infected and I had to go to Stanford to have the mesh removed. Since that time I get that type of pain you describe. I believe it is adhesions. I also get a pain high...which I thought was my gallbladder. Burning....and sharp. Turns out after many tests and visits with 3 different doctors, there is nothing there. They checked for ulcers with endoscopy, hida scans, MRIs and other stuff. Nothing. Finally, my WLS surgeon told me that I perhaps might be hedging on a blockage that comes and goes. He said if I get that pain and then have severe vomiting then I'm to get in ASAP. I think it makes perfect sense because I now have found that when that pain comes...I tend to have firmer stools. Not constipated, but harder then normal. I'm not sure if this rambling helps...but if I were you...get it checked out. Christy
