super bowl snacks anyone?
Is anyone else wanting to mindlessly snack tonight?
We are not even having a super bowl party, but looking at all the junk food ads prepared for today, and the snacks the grocery store was pushing this week, I want to eat it all. Today seems to be the "eat all the junk you want: free day in America. It's worse than Thanksgiving, because it isn't even any healthy stuff.
I'm not eating it, I'm just *wanting* to eat it more than usual tonight.
I am also rooting for the Bears. My father was a HUGE Bears fan, and had been so excited at how well they were doing this season. He passed away very suddenly two months ago, and I know he would have been glued to the tv right now. I am watching it in his memory.

I heard on the radio today that superbowl sunday is the highest calorie intake day of the year, even more than Thanksgiving!!
I was shocked til I really thought about it. Thanksgiving is turkey and veggies etc, there is usually nutritious food available and good protein.
superbowl parties tend to be snacky food and beer, pizza, chips etc.
I had planned buffalo wings, and pizza.
we didn't have much of a party, my grown kids and grandkids , me and dh.
So, after I heard that I got busy, made some vegetable soup, (healthier than chili) plus a recipe from my south beach holiday cookbook for a healthy high fiber and good protein source hummus with baked whole wheat pita chips, and cut up veggies, to go with my other junk. I filled up on soup before the party so I would be less tempted. then I had my hummus and pita, veggies, and a few tortilla chips with salsa, and 1 wing and no pizza.
I did indulge in a small brownie my daughter made and a chocolate cupcake.
so I had something not so good , but overall I did good even with the party, because I thought it over and planned for it.
I also sent most of the leftovers home with my kids (except I kept all of the soup) so I will not be snacking tomorrow.
we are packer fans so the bears winning was not an option at our house - My son said if the bears won he was calling in sick to work tomorrow LOL, and maybe for the rest of the year.
I am glad for your dad that they at least mad eit to the superbowl tho.
Well, I watched the game for my dad, and, sorry dad, I am almost, almost glad you weren't able to watch it. Keep in mind I never watch football.
And, I did end up snacking much more than usual. We made nachos, and I ate some tortilla chips, then it was SF cookies, then it was popcorn. Yep, I pretty much never snack like that.
So, today is a new day, and I'm back on track. Will forget the Bears loss, never forget my dad, and take each day as it comes.

up 1 pound from the junk
HI!
I feel ok with what I ate.
I made a homemade pizza, dough and all. Topped it with low fat salami, turkey pepperoni, deli black forrest ham, red/orange bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, and lowfat mozzarella cheese and sauce. I had 1 mall square, 1/2 of what hubby served me.
Hubby made buffalo wings, I had 1.
He also grilled italian sausages, I had 1 with 1/2 of a sourdough roll and hot mustard. Cool little trick. I halved the roll and cut a slit into that, and that was my roll. It took a while to eat.
Since I was eating, did not have a drin****il later, and that was just my usual, herbal iced tea with splenda.
My daughter made a german chocolate cake, and I cut off 1 tiny square, just for the taste. It was 1 bite's worth. I think I did good!!
Mind u, all of this was within the 3 hrs of the game, so I am proud of myself. I did not sit by the food, so I would not mindlessly grab at the food.
HAve a great day!!
