Any ladies stop having a peroid??
I went to a seminar where the doctor said to have our testosterone levels checked. We need some testosterone to have a healthy sex drive. I need to get mine checked and also to be checked to see if I am starting menopause. My periods were fine until the last few months and I am almost 2 years out @ 48 years old. Loris
Hi Jennifer. I'm 48 yrs old and was in peri-menopause for a year before my surgery. I was having a lighter period about every 3 mos. Since the day of my surgery, I have had heavy, monthly periods with cramps like I had when i was a teen. My sex drive has dropped significantly also. I'm hoping it will normal out for me soon although it's been a year. I'm thinking it's time to see my gyno. I kinda thought after I lost most of my excess body fat that my hormones would stablize. I guess not. This is my experience. HTH Lunchlady
Hi Jennifer.
I'm 15 months out and haven't had a period since I went off the pill in September in hopes of having another child. Since I'm already 41 my OB/GYN quickly ran a bunch of tests and diagnosed early menopause. Wasn't ready for that - I've had to have a crash course in all the possible complications from early menopause. Seeing your post and all the replies makes me wonder if there's some connection to the surgery.
Good luck.

Hi,
I'm 44 years old. I'll be 18 months out from surgery this Sunday and I've been like clockwork (just like I've always been). I saw that another poster wondered if the menstrual issues were the result of surgery. I don't discount this theory, but it seems as though most of the posters are in their mid-late 40's and I think that is the time that would've happened anyway, surgery or not. Just my two cents
I suggest you go to your gyn and get your hormone levels checked.
Take Care,
Terry

In May, I will be two years out. I'm still having periods every month (and they seem to be more painful each month). I've also completely lost my sex drive for the last six months. I finally went to my gyno last week who happens to be a WLS patient herself. She is running some bloodwork on me so hopefully, I'll know something soon.
Glad to see that I'm not alone in this!
