Does anyone else find that they eat like a fiend when their Iron is low? I am on my 3rd round of iron infusions. And I have noticed that when ever it gets low I find myself eating all the wrong thigs of course and its' all I seem to think about is what am I going to eat next. fortunaly I have not gained which I don't really understand I am 2 1/2 yrs out. and just had my TT done ( not going great but thats another story) I just wonderd if anyone else noticed the hungry and low iron connection? Juli, I've never noticed a connection, but I think I'll keep an eye on it. I've had borderline low iron for a while now, even after 3 iron transfusions after my LBL and 3 blood transfusions after my BL/BA & Brachioplasty. I'm having labs drawn again in about a month so I'll see how the appetite vs. iron count stack up. Vickie J.

Juli: I was 2 years post op in July 2006 and had iron transfusions about a year ago. And my eating habits changed completely during the 4 iron transfusions I received. I would come home and eat an entire sandwich which I never could do. I asked the doctor and he said no correlation but I thought maybe since steroids were mixed in with the iron that it was the steroids that increased my appetite. Also, I lost my sex drive when I started the transfusions. Not sure if they were related but maybe just a coincidence. Bella

I've made the same connection too. when I forget to take my Vitron-C, I find myself eating all the time. It''s our bodies telling us it needs something that we are not getting. Hang in there. The iron infusions should help.

Thanks for the response's it's good to know I am not the only one. I finally thought to ask one of the nurses at the office. Turns out there is a cause, when it's low I cannot remember the exact name but it stats with a P. Also when I am getting the iron one of the pre-meds I get with it is a steroid, and they always make you eat. That makes me feel better that I am just not losing it ....my mind I mean. Juli
