Just wondering if anyone here does the Waterloading? 7. 15 minutes before the next meal, drink as much as possible as fast as possible. This is called "water loading." IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN DRINKING OVER THE LAST FEW HOURS, THIS 'WATER LOADING' WILL NOT WORK. From: http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/PouchRules.html

Interesting but for what reason? I have the lap-band and am thinking that for me it would only make me feel full for a very short time and then I would eat less than necesseary causing me to be hungry again too quickly. I bet this is different for the other kinds of surgeries, huh? I do best when I measure and follow the eating rules for the lap-band. 2 oz of protein, 1 green veg, a part of a sweet potato and no water for an hour before or after eating. Of course, that takes a lot of planning on my part but still it IS when I do best.

I recently had my one year follow-up and asked my surgeon about this. He has been doing WLS for 6+ years exclusively and he stated that he had never heard such a thing and didn't think it would be effective. Not trying to be a downer, just repeating what I was told

I am 5+ years post-op and never heard of this! I was counceled not to drink with meals, to wait at least an hour after eating to drink, and of course to eat protein first. Bu****er loading? This is the first I've heard of it..... Marilyn

Thanks Marilyn....I don't drink for at least an hour after I eat either, most times, an hour and a half..BUT I do drink up to the time I eat and quickly. I only have 3 meals a day and I'm good with that..I know if I eat between meal's I have to wait too long to drink something..I follow the rules "Pouch Rules for Dummies" (that's me) LOL..check out that link I put in my original post..It explains a lot!!

I haven't tried water loading, but I've read alot about it~its included in "Pouch Rules for Dummies". Anyway, I've never tried it. I have my 2yr appt on Friday and I'll ask my surgeon what he thinks! Tracy B

I am over 4 years out and have never heard of this! What's the object of it? I was told not to drink so much water at a time or it would stretch my pouch. I also don't drink anything for 30 minutes before I eat and I wait an hour afterwards. I think this has been best because after all this time, I still will get full on 4 or 5 ounces of yogurt. Personally, this sounds nuts to me.... Just my thoughts though.

Hi PJ!! Check out the link I put in my original post..Tracy is right, it comes from the "Pouch Rules for Dummys" Like me..LOL This is what my sugeon suggested for me..I use it. He told me the fastest way to gain weight is to start drinking with my meals or too soon after I eat..I just can't bring myself to stop water loading..I'm fearful about starting something I can't stop later if I need to. I'm a habitual creature. Check out the link!
