How long before panniculectomy?

How much weight do you have to lose before you can get your pannus removed? It's been almost 3 years since my surgery; I lost 83 pounds and my pannus is so heavy and embarrassing. I get heat pimples on the tops of my thighs, I sweat underneath, and if I didn't have it I could get into pants two sizes smaller. Plus it's pulling my lumbar spine out of alignment. It's all I can do to not take a meat cleaver to it. lol Anyway, thanks.

I had my total abdominoplasty 18 months after my surgery. I hope you are documenting all the rashes and such. I had abdominoplasty instead of panniculectomy because with the abdo they repair the stretched out muscles in the abdomen in addition to removing the excess skin. My insurance covered every cent because i documented the rashes and the plastic surgeon photographed the pannus with her request. I believe I had lost about the same as you. Another 15 lbs went with the abdominoplasty

generally ps want your weight to be stable for 6 months. you are definitely far enough out to do ps. i'm going on 4 years out and just did my first round of ps - lower body lift 2 weeks ago. start documenting your problems, pic & doctor visits, most insurance company don't like to pay for theses procedures with out documentation. donna open rny mar 18 2003 282/143/140

Been there and done that!!!! I was told I had to be within 10 lbs of goal. I had pannis removed while two hernias were repaired, and breast lift/reduction thrown in . I had it done at a teaching hospital in Jackson, MS; University Medical Center. I had terrible back problems AFTER LOSING 240 LBS. BCBS WOULD NOT PAY A PENNY!!!! I got pus filled boils; and these were documented. I am considering a revision. After massive wt loss one plastic surgery WILL NOT BE THE FIX ALL.
