What to expect from carb/sugar detox?
Good morning everyone. I decided over the weekend to go "cold turkey" on carbs and sugar. I'm basically following an Atkins-type plan, and am attempting to lose 20 pounds of my regained weight. I was just wondering what to expect the first few days. I can tell you that already this morning I have a "fuzzy" head with a slight headache, and just feel generally "out of it." I am also cutting out caffeine. I'm guessing it will get worse before it gets better, but wondered if any of you have done this and what your experiences were. I'm not the most disciplined person, and I don't want to wimp out! But how long will it take to get "over the hump" and feel good about following this plan?
I realize this is how I should have been eating (for the most part) all along and I probably wouldn't be in the boat I'm in, having to lose weight that I regained. But I allowed myself to become re-addicted to carbs/sugar, and this is where I find myself now. For a while now, I just tried "cutting back" on food in general, but that hasn't produced any weight loss, so I'm going for a more drastic approach.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I did the carb/sugar detox at the first of January. My head was pounding at the end of day two. I remember being in bed and my head was thumping so hard. But the next day was better. The cravings are gone, I am now three weeks into this pattern of eating and I feel soooooo much better. Hang in there it will pass. I am also trying to drop the regained weight and I am already well on my way

Thanks, Terri. This is good news to hear. I'm glad you're feeling well, and the cravings have passed as well. I am feeling better today than i did yesterday, so I hope I won't revert back to the way I felt Monday. I had a rough time even getting through the day. I don't have the headache and fuzzy feeling as much today, but the cravings for sweets and carbs are very strong.
If you don't mind my asking, how is the weight loss coming along? I had done Atkins pre-WLS, and it was a pretty successful diet for me, although I don't expect to lose as fast as I did then, of course. Did you see results the first week?
Thanks for the response.
