Thank you, Michelle~
I don't want to lose, just maintain. On fitday it says Calories used is 2000 and my input is 1500, but with our malabsorbtion, I wonder how that may differ. AND do we absorb more as time moves on..?
Hi Janet,
I too were like you. My all time low was 135 and a size 2- 4. I was gaunt looking and people told me all the time I needed to gain weight. I did not see it till my husband stood me naked in front of a mirror and showed me all my bones that were showing badly. That was when I was about 2-3years out. I am now almost 5 years out and have gianed weight. I am about 165. I prefer 150 and am trying to lose the extra. I keep my calories at 1000. I have found that I am absorbing more and that my body seems to have adapted to the internal changes caused from my by-pass. I have put fat back on in my thigh area and tummy area. Also in my face which was good. I am in a size 8-10 but as I said prefer a 6-8. Things will start stabling out. Good luck. My old profile is under Dede C. I have not been here in a few years and could not figure out my password. so I just made a new one. Dede

Hi Dede!
Thank you! I'm happy to hear what you are saying..that you can relate to my concerns! I'll check out your profile for sure!
My Dh is having fits and worry..LOL I'm trying not to lose anymore..I hate to even get on the scale and I haven't in a couple of weeks. When the dh asked if I have lost anymore weight, I say NO, not that I know of..LOL Hey, I ain't lyeing! I'm glad to hear you came out of this place, but it's a bit un-nerving to know our bodies catch on to the trick that's been played on it..Malabsorbtion can not be counted on forever. Thanks for that info. That is very helpful in knowing!
How tall are you? I looked really good at 165! I felt much better at that weight than I do now, but thought 150 was great too..Right now, I feel so frail and I'm so shapeless!
Good luck to you, too!

Thank you, Angel~
The biggest part of my 1500 calories is spent on breakfast..and on three meals a day..
I'm not quite a grad .... less than a month to go! I eat about 2,000 calories a day. I find if I eat less than that, I stop loosing because my body goes into starvation mode. I do need to say that I exercise HARD and really get quite the work out 6 days a week.
I highly recommend weight training. I'm no longer building muscle but keeping tone. Increasing your muscle mass increases your resting metabolism rate and your body actually needs more calories to survive.
Based on my lean body mass and work out schedule, I need 2700 calories a day to maintain my weight and anything below that and I will loose. I've found that 2000-2200 is the magic place I need to be to lose on a steady basis. I've lost 8 lbs so far this month.
Everyone is different. You should exercise daily if possible. Find a good personal trainer who knows nutrition. They can help you find the right caloric intake.

Wow, GO TERRI!!! I'm inspired by your endurance! I'm feeling too frail, like I'll break something if I get too active..I don't have a great sense of balance either..it takes time and perseverance, I guess? I've been WATCHING the new belly dance workout on TV, I may get up off the couch it looks so fun!!!LOL Weights would help me too, I know.
You are right..I need to start a daily exercise progam, for sure!! I know when I go on hikes, I feel invigorated for days..it feels wonderful..SO, wonder why I don't do it more often? LOL
I have rheumatoid arthritis and used to have a poor sense of balance. I used to fall all the time.
The thing about exercise is you should start off slow. Many people become discouraged because they try to start a full workout and fail because they expected too much. Start your program with a simple 15 workout and build from there. Push yourself to do a little more each time.
Weight training has REALLY helped me. I've found that the increased muscle mass has helped with the joint damage. The muscles are actually picking up the slack from the bad joints. My husband has commented on how limber I am now in certain situations ... nuff said about that (blush).
You still have your old habit of not wanting to exercise. You need to make a new habit. Would you believe I actually LIKE exercising? ME? Who woulda thought?!?!?!?
I want to shout from the rooftops how much I enjoy pushing my body to the limit. I've never been athletic. I've never been physically fit. Heck, I don't thin****il the last year I've ever done a pushup or a situp. I cut gym class in high school.
