Ok all my fellow RNY's - i need a little cheerleading squad to get me re motivated. i am 3 years out (RNY 12/29/03) and as of Oct 06 was down from 300 to 180 and only had those last 20 to go to reach my personal goal weight (i am 5'7 and thick boned/muscles)... ANYWAY, had a big hiccup in October, went through a bit of depression, drank way too much and i think i let pasta and sandwiches get the better of me and as of today i have GAINED 20 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so not only am i going in the wrong way, I am now needing to shed 40 pounds before i go on my big 40th b-day trip at the end of May!!!! SO - I am asking for help to get back on track. PLEASE any diet tips, exersise tips, quick restart plans out there I need them. I am starting to beat myself up and the funny thing is... ALL my friends say i look like I am either the same or have lost weight (which by the way my pants are fitting, i KNOW is not true). I believe this was the best thing I have ever done for myself, and was actually ok with only being 20lbs overweight (as opposed to 140lbs over in '03). so now that a short story is long - throw me some suggestions that are good and healthy quick start plans to get me to be a loser again

After reading your post my number one suggestion is start kicking the carbs to the curb and jump back on the protein bandwagon. You might want to put some variety in your exercise program as well. I know when things are not going down on the scale I can look to increasing water, protein and exercise...back to the basics. Hope it helps.

I had a very similar problem. I have come to some conlclusions after recently losing 23 pounds. I am full no matter what I eat. If I choose to eat that plate of pasta or that soup and salad, I get full all the same. I just have to make better choices. Whole grains are just as satisfying as white flour products. I choose the whole grains these days. I eat a healthy breakfast every day and do not eat it until I am actually hungry for it, thus putting my morning cravings off a little while longer. I have to exercise at LEAST 3 hours a week no matter what. Sugar and carbs make me feel yucky no matter how much I lie to myself. Being in control makes me feel better mentally which makes me stronger which helps me be in control which makes me feel better.......... Taking care of myself and my health is more imprtant than anyone or anything on this planet. No outsied factor is worth my hurting myself for. Good Luck!!!! Terri

I think you have come to the right place at the right time since everyone is trying to loose those extra pounds from the holidays. I recently went back to protein only - I would have a shake for breakfast, a protein bar for a snack, cheese and pepperoni chips for snacks, protein shake for lunch and again one for dinner or maybe scrambled eggs. I walk 4 miles usually every night or every other night. I lost 5 lbs and totally excited!!! I wish you the best of luck and stay on the boards - great place for inspiration!!! Valerie
