Question- I'm going on 4 years post -op this March.I just had a LBL one week ago. I've noticed since I had plastic surgery last week I seem to be able to eat more. I had a stricture 4 weeks post op but always seemed to have a lot of restriction up until last week. My wls doctor seemed to think I got down to normal weight because I had alot of restriction 1 year post - op. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a stoma stretching from being "tubed" during surgery. I'm probably just worried over nothing. Thanks, Donna

A breathing tube does not go into your stomach or pouch but rather into your airway, so I don't see how the breathing tube could stretch your stoma.

Wow, if anything my pouch seemed to shrink after Plastic surgery. (I had a anchor cut TT with a BA/BL). Afterwards, I felt like I was 6 weeks PO again! It's possible that it's just your hormones playing havoc with you. That's why some of us feel like we can eat more when it's that time of the month. I know I do. Besides, They can't stretch your stoma with a breathing tube. It doesn't even go in that far. Jane

Thanks for your replies.....I'm probably worrying over nothing. I wasn't worried about my stomache/ pouch, but my throat area. I'm one of those people who feels my fullness in my throat and chest, not stomache. I just remembered when I had a stricture - 3 weeks post op, that when I went to swallow I felt pressure was on my throat. Even after I was "scoped" I always felt pressure on my throat when I ate. My dr. recommended that I didn't get stretched (scoped) again because I would be able to eat too much, and wouldn't lose the weight I wanted to lose. So I never did, I just wondering why I don't have that tightness on my throat any longer. I'm probably worrying over nothing, I haven't gained any weight. I probably just going thru a period were I can eat more than normal. Thx for your replies. Donna
