Hey Rebecca, The only REAL complications I've had are constipation and anemia. Not sure if I'd call them complications, as much as side-affects tho. Wendy (5.5 years post op)

I haven't had any major complications. I have to do the B12 shots now because my B12 got really low even though I was doing the sublingual B12. I was anemic about 3 months post op but have not had any problems with anemia since then. Those are the only problems I have had and I am 4 years post op. Shel

I had open RNY 11/17/2003 and haven't had any complications at all. Nothing, nada, none. I was a healthy fat person to begin with and by blood work always came back good. Robin

I had open rny and I got a hernia, but it gave me an excuse to get a lower body lift, so the cloud had a silver lining. Most people now get their surgery done laparoscopically, so even that is not an issue any more. I will say that any hernia, discomfort, relearning to eat, etc., was nothing compared to the benefits I have gained---I had type II diabetes and was giving myself a shot every night and now my blood sugars are perfectly normal; I had high blood pressure which is now totally resolved. I was three years postop last September. Connie -147#

Hi, I have to take vitamins everyday. The only real complication I had was deciding which store to shop at for new clothes! EDEN
