Hi, I am 2 1/2 years out RNY. At 11 mo's out I awoke one morning with very odd pains just below my pouch. As the day grew on I got in so much pain i went to the ER. They paged my Dr and he didnt think I had a blockage because I was not throwing up and I had been able to pass gas. By 6 that evening the pain was like childbirth. Even morphine didnt cut it. My dr came down and sent me for a cat scan. Adhesions had totally tied a knot around my RNY limp just below pouch but above lower bowel. I was taken to surgery right away. About 3 mo.'s ago I began to have pain somewhat like that again but it would come and go. Three weeks ago, I had to go to ER again. However, scan showed no blockage. My dr feared I had an internal hernia so he scheduled me for lap surgery to look. I found more adhesions, cut them again. SO thats where I stand..........Guess I have to be ready....they warned me that should my bowels totally block it can be very dangerous. Hope you arent having like problems.

I've had emergency surgery twice in the past two years for adhesions, though the second one included a surgical clip that had come loose and was imbedded in my abdominal wall. It is scary and painful. and you have no way of knowing if you will be affected by this prior to surgery.

You won't get a lot of answers , but if you read the main board consistently, you'll see this is one of the most common complications, along with ulcer.
