What ?'s did you ask.
Hi all, I posted this on the PS board also.
What questions did you ask your PS when discussing your procedure. I have a pre op friday and will also meet the PS to discuss the process. Some I have are healing time, pain control, hours in the OR, how aggressive or not he will be in getting rid of excess skin...
Anything else...
Thanks
MaryLyn
Hey, my God, I dont remember. I think I asked procedure time, pain mgmt, pain tolerance, fu garmets, etc.
I pretty much knew everything going in.....The one thing I think I wasnt prepared for was the amount of fluid that would leak from my body after the LBL and lipo. Also, that I wouldnt feel hungry for a week or so and would drop 10lbs. Also, what type of pain killers they would give me coming off anesthia. Bc of the PS, its hard to cough, throw up the anesthisa taste afterward.
As about the meds (get your perscriptions ahead of time), should you/shouldnt you go off iron or other vitamins, brith control, also. Ask him if its ok to have an ambien or a glass of wine the night before to take the edge/anxiety off. Find out about how often he wants to see you, how long he thinks you will be out of work, if youll need help at home.
Ive had PS twice now. Once while I was still married, once on my own and I survived. Email me if you need anything.
What kind of PS are you having? 2 nights in the hopsital, thats a LONG time.
When I had my LBL, I went in at 7am, was released the next morning at 7am. I was married at the time, so, my ex-husband was there, the re-coperating from that was TOUGH. Not painful, just very uncomfortable.
The mini-arm lift & boob lift/reduction, I went in at 7am, was discharged at 12nn and walked home from the hopsital, 15 blks. It was a peice of cake. Went back to work in 2 days.
I am having an extended TT, LBL and thigh plasty. I really want to feel well before I come home that is why I want two nights. My situation is a little different when it comes to coverage I work for BCBS and was denied twice for PS. I filed a grievance with Consumer affairs at BCBS. They approved coverage but only one surgery not in two which I would have preferred. While speaking with the woman handling my case, I mentioned length
of stay and told her at least one night but then she asked that I speak with the surgeon and find out how many nights he feels I will need. If it is two then she will approve two. The employees in the grievance dept are non clinicians so they do not come at it the way a Dr would in reviewing each case.
Sorry for the long explanation and thanks for sharing with me.
