Hi Everyone, I was thinking of adding protein drinks back to my diet. Its been a while since i purchased any, so I'm wondering if there are any new products/tastes and what others are using. I prefer the ready to drink, I was using a protein smoothie from the Vitamin Shoppe. I don't remember the brand, but each can had 35 grams of protein and extra calcium. They weren't bad, but not the best either, I used to get a case of 12 for about $25.00. Thanks, Teah

Hi Teah! I'm crazy about the AchievOne drinks. They are a coffee based pre mixed protein drink with 20gm of protein. But, sometimes they are hard to get as the company that makes them is small and the few suppliers that sell it are often out!!! As a back up, I really enjoy a powder from Elite called Cafe Mocha. It's very, very good. And what's funny is, I'm not a coffee drinker! But for some reason I enjoy these coffee flavored protein drinks! Also the whey powder of the Vitamin Shoppe brand is very good if you want just a simple chocolate shake. You could also go on websites like bariatriceating.com or vitalady.com and order samples. Good luck to you!!! I'm sure you'll find something that you like! Jeanne

Hey, Teah, I don't have a favorite ready to drink, but I really like the isopure low carb chocolate powder. I mix it in decaf and/or iced coffee and it tastes like frappacino. I am 15 months out and still take it once or twice a day to keep the hungries away and the weight loss going..... I am apt to put a scoop in a little snack bag and carry it in my pocket til I find something good to mix it in.... Jeannie

I buy the Isopure Dutch Chocolate. It is not the ready to drink kind, however, it mixes really easy with just a spoon. It tastes great, too! You can mix it with water to get a Yoo Hoo flavored drink, or you can mix it with milk for a chocolate milk flavored drink. It only takes a few stirs (just like nestle quick). Also, it is 50 grams of protein per serving. There are no clumps!!

Hi, Teah. The best drink I have found as far as taste and quality, in a ready-to-drink variety, is the GNC 50 gram slam. For 240 calories, it provides a whopping 50 grams of protein. It also provides 120% of daily recommended calcium, as well as some other nutrients. It comes in several flavors (vanilla, chocolate, banana), though I like the vanilla the best. The chocolate was OK, but the banana to me seemed sickeningly sweet-tasting. Because a normal person's digestive tract can only absorb around 25 grams of protein at a time, I divide the drink in half and drink half of it at a time. I pour the remaining half in a container and keep it in the fridge. The drink tastes best when very cold, over served over ice. - Beth

T, I am almost 2 years out and drink 2 protein shakes a day. I just feel better. I buy Champion Pure Whey, the chocolate. It cost me online around $25.00 for 70 servings. Tastes like Nestles Quik. Rhonda

I still start every morning with a protein drink. My favorite is Crystal Light Orange with Fuzzy Navel Nectar. Yum Yum! Not ready-to-drink, but still very effective! Maria W.

Hello Teah, I am almost 2 yrs post op and I have at least one "LoCarb Slimfast (20 gr) with one scoop of "Unflavored Unjury" (20 gr) everyday. If I don't get at least another 20 in foods then in evening I do the same. These really do satisfy me and and give me 80 grams a day. I know they work to help me continue my success in loosing because when I skip a due due access, traveling etc...I see and feel the difference. Just this past week I stepped up to make sure I got two drinks in and dropped 3 more lbs. I still have one good meal and popcorn daily. Lo Carb Slimfast has a great taste use Splenda unlike any of their other products which I can not use. The Unflavored Unjury has no sugar and is 100% isolated whey which is what we need.

The ones you described sound just like the ones I order from The Vitamin Shoppe. They are ready to drink cans called "Pure Protein" with 35g protein in each one. They have chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and banana. I drink one every morning!

Personally I am rather fond of the ISOPure low carb stuff. The premixed juice stuff in the bottles is actually not too bad. they typically contain 40 to 50 grams of protien for something in the area of 10 to 20 carbs. Chris
