I had an open RNY almost 3 years ago, I recently found out that I am pregnant and want to try for a natural delivery. However my new ob wants to plan a csection because of my previous csection more than 10 years ago and the open rny. The first csection was a result of a failed attempt to induce my labor. I am looking for advice from anyone who has had similar cir****tances and what they did. I do not really want another major surgery if I can avoid it, but I want to do what is best for my baby. Thanks for your help. Heather

Congrats on the baby Heather. Sorry I can't help on the c-section vs. a vaginal birth, hopefully you can get some input from the Pregnancy board. Dana

I had a successful natural delivery after an open abdominal surgery (open banding). And as for natural birth post-cesarean....from nursing school research, i recall that there was a big movement in favor of birthing vaginally after a c-section (and lots of success). I don't see why you *have* to have the section unless other risks apply. mary
