did you still lose after one year?
Yes, I lost 107 by my 1 year and now down 137 and I'm 19+ months out (and I'm at goal I might add!). It seems slower but if you look at % of weight you need to lose, I actually "lost" more after my 1 year. My % of weight I needed to lose each month stayed in the double digits several of those months. I did go thru a long stall when I was a year out and then I started losing again when I was about 16 months out.
i am so glad to hear that people still lose after the 1 year mark. my surgery was 6/2005 and i've been stuck at 80 pounds. i'm depressed and discouraged. i need to lose at least 70 more pounds but i feel that the honeymoon is over and i'm stuck forever. i am also terrified that i have stretched the stoma. i had never even heard of that thing until oct. 2006 well over a year after my surgery. i feel hopeless.
Dont feel hopeless. You're going to reach a plateau but that just means that you have to kickstart your metabolism. I am out about 13 months and i was stuck at 185 (coming from 337) for a month and i felt quite the same way you do, but i went back to following the rules of the pouch, water loading, no eating two hours b4 bedtime, protein first, low carb with multigrain being a big source of my carb vs. white refined carbs, etc. Also your body gets used to the same workout routine so switch it up, if you always do the treadmill for 1/2 hour do the elliptical for 45 minutes, etc, add some weights to your workout. I promise you it works. I just came off my plateau and i am now at 177 my goal is 150 and i know i can do it by April. So be strong dont despair.. your metabolism just needs a wake up call.
I've lost about 9 lbs since I crossed my one year mark in September. I'm still about 25 lbs from my goal range, and my weight loss has slowed considerably, but it still happening. I admit to slacking off greatly on my exercise during the holidays so I plan to hit the gym tonight on my way home.
