Has anyone experianced this?
I went to the doctor who sent me to a EMT specialist right before Christmas the EMT put me on antibiotics to see if I had an infected lymph node. Well, it hasn't went down and go back to see the EMT next Friday. All I can think about is what if I have cancer!
The lump is toward the center of my neck but to the right side not too far below my chin. It doesn't hurt and it's fixed, not movable.
No other symptoms except I'm tired all the time, and have been that way for a long time even before WLS.
I wonder sometimes if it could be my thyroid. I'm one year out of WLS and have lost 108 lbs and having a hard time keeping my weight up. The scale keeps slowly moving down. I feel like I'm in a fog all the time.
If anyone has ever been thru this, I need your support. I am beside myself with worry!!!

Is that an ENT? (Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist?)
Lymph nodes can be picky. I have ones that are a bit enlarged still due to a case of mononucleosis in my late 30s. The mono hit me hard at that age.
I've also had a nodule on my thyroid. Mine was benign which most of them are. And they are indeed very common. Mine was not felt but was seen on an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound for another issue (parathyroid and calcium issues - I had a tumor on one of the parathyroid glands which are 96% benign - I've since had that removed).
Hopefully the antibiotics will clear that up for you.
Try not to jump to the bad conclusions if you can. The likelihood of it being something like that is probably very small.
As for being tired and feeling in a fog, make sure your doctor runs lots of blood tests including a thyroid panel (T3, t4, TSH), ferritin, % staturation and TIBC, CMP, CBC, lipid profile, PTH and all the vitmain levels especially your B1 and B12 levels. Low B12 can present itself as fogginess. How much B12 are you taking? Make sure you are taking all your vitamins!
Take a deep breath and relax. Keep us posted, okay?
Best wishes, Kathy

Hi Kathy.
Thanks for your support.
I just had blood work done for my 1 year check up and everything was good except for my Iron levels. I've been taking Repliva 21/7 for that. The bloodwork did not include a thyroid panel. My B-12 was over the top, over 2000. I really don't understand why my hemo could be normal and my iron be low.
I've been on antibiotics since before Christmas and the lump is not going down.
I felt a very small lump before thanksgiving, and showed it to my pcp who sent me to the Ear, nose, throat specialist and by the time (little over a month) I got to that emt, I had come down with the flu and the EMT doc wouldn't listen to me that that lump started growing long before I got sick...All he did was run a little scope up my nose and down my throat .. I wasn't happy about that, cause he didn't tell me what he was going to do..I don't trust this doctor. Just adds to my stress. I have to go back to see him Friday.
Another thing that's stressing me out is I have no insurance right now, seems that EMT doctor was more concerned about THAT. Told me I should at least have some kind of catistophic insurance and told me the state sponsers carriers for high risk..I know, but they cost about 13,000 a year!! I can not afford that.
After my WLS my group insurance was canceled because there wasn't enough in the group. I appied for individual insurance, but was denied twice.
I'm so STRESSED!!!
Here it is my one year WLS anniversary, dealing with this!
I hope and pray that I'm making mountians out of mole hills!!!
Thanks again for answering my post, Kathy!
This actually happened to my son a few years ago~he was only 3 at the time. Wow, was that scary b/c one day he was fine and the WHAM! He had this HUGE bubble on his neck. They put him on antibiotics too and it went away with no problem but it took a few weeks. They said its not that abnormal to have that happen. I hope that yours is nothing more than an infection as well! Good Luck and update when you can!

Thank you, Tracy..
I called the ENT doctor today because I choked up some blood. It stopped, just happened that once.. but he is sending me for a CT scan
I have had the flu, so maybe I just coughed too hard..
I'm frightened. Just don't feel good at all..
