Has anyone ever done the Master Cleanse Detox, also know as the Lemonade Diet? Is this program suitable for Gastric Bypass patients? I'm wanting to do it because I just don't feel good anymore. My energy level has been down for 6 months, I have not lost any weight in 7 months, and my 1 year anniversary is coming up next week.

I haven't but quite a few people in our support group have and feel it has helped. I asked my doctor about it on their behalf and he said there is no reason why someone who has had WLS surgery shouldn't be able to be fine using any detox cleanser. Go ahead and try it, hope it works for you. My nutritionist really likes the ones that are for your particular blood type found in most health stores. I also have slowed quite a bit in the last 5 months and I've decided that I am going to go back to the basics. Exercising, high protein, low carb. I'm sure that this will help with the blahs and I do feel so much better when I am eating healthier and exercising.

My first question to you are regardng your lack of weight loss and loss of engery levels is are you taking your vits, getting in at least 30 min of exercise per day, and are you consuming enough protein? Also, have you seen your surgeon and had your blood work....my surgeon required 1 wk, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 1 year psot op...followed by annual post-op care. Often times when WLS patients do follow the basics:protein, water, vits, & exercise they lack energy and weight-loss stalls. I am almost 30 moths post-op and still am loosing...however, I still follow the rules and exercise like a fiend each and everyday. Mary M. 415/154

This "cleanse" consists of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. In my humble opinion, this is totally inappropriate for us. We need protein (this contains none). The maple syrup would cause dumping for many of us. Any weight loss which results from this program would include loss of a large amount of lean body mass (muscle) and a small amount of fat. If you don't feel good now, you will really feel bad after this program. What you need is protein, nonstarchy vegetables, water, all your vitamins and minerals, etc. Stanley Burroughs, the man that started this plan, was not a doctor or any kind of health professional. I would also question any health professional who would recommend a gastric bypass patient do this. Connie -147#

Ditto! We just need to go back to the instructions given to us when we had our life/saving- surgery. Protien first and lots of water - water. If you do this you will feel better. Guarenteed!
