virus and the pouch

I just recently had a gastro virus, everyone is getting it. Well I had the dry heaves really bad , well I was wondering if this can cause damage to our pouch?? I am 4 yrs out RNY. I have not been able to eat solid food for 3 days due to the sickness. Just starting today with oatmeal. The only upside to this is I lost 6 lbs.

Bless your heart. I am almost 3 years out and have not had a gastro virus since my surgery. I thought maybe due to the new plumbing or all the vitimans that I would not, Prior to RNY I had stomach virus at least once a year. As long as you can keep food down without pain and no vomiting blood, I would think your pouch is fine. I am not a doctor by any means so if you are concerned give yours a call. Laura, I have not had any viruses but I do dryheave quite often. Anytime I eat something that doesn't agree with me, if I eat to fast, or don't chew enough. I am 6 months out and it was worse in the beginning than it is now. I have never been able to throw up only dry heave. It hurts so bad and I usually end up with a sore throat from all the hacking. I have been to the hospital twice and have also spoke to my doctor about this and they never were concerned about it doing anything to my pouch, even early out. Jus****ch for any pain or anything unusual and go to the docotor right away if something doesn't feel right. Hope this helps! Happy Holidays. Karen
