Blood in Stool? Internal Bleeding?

As I posted last week, I have severe anemia. After some test by my regular doc, it turns out I have internal bleeding, or blood in my stool. Because of the holidays, I can't get in for a colonoscopy until after the first of the year. My labs have been good until three months ago when they showed up with borderline anemia. This would be more that a year after my lap RNY. I'm really trying to figure out what caused it. Is it a delayed complication from surgery or somethng else? Has anyone else had this? If so, did you find out what the cause of the bleeding was? Thanks for all your help on this. Torrey *281/178/160

Torrey, sorry I can't help, I hope your results are positive and quick. Take care, let us know what you find out. If it becomes severe, go to the ER girl. Dana

About 3 months down the road (post RNY) I bled a bright red blood in the toilet. Scared me to death. Called my surgeon and he said it was not related to my RNY & saw my PCP who ordered a colinoscopy. Not fun but I found I had a internal hemmohoid (sp ?) Used Proctofoam and it worked beautifully. That has been over a year & 1/2 ago now and no more problems. Hope yours is as simple.

I actually ended up the hospital just a few months ago. My iron levels were really low (I have thalassemia). While I was there they found blood in my stools!! I was so worried but when I had a scope and colonoscopy and they didn't find anything!! Did it clear up on it's own....dunno know? I had a blood transfusion and felt much better afterwards!! Hope you find out what's up!!! Best Wishes!

I'm crossing my fingers it is something minor and just goes away. It's the not knowing that makes me crazy. I'm an engineer type and like to find root causes so it doesn't happen again. However, I don't have the tools to figure out this one. Have to wait on the docs. Hopefully the holidays will go smoothly and I'll find out something good first of the year. Cheers, Torrey

Torrey: I was 1 month post op when I started passing blood in my stool. I was hospitalized and had a gastroscope done. Turned out I had a marginal ulcer. I was put on previcid and that healed it up. Good Luck!! DeeAnn R

I got my most recent labs back. I've been so very tired I was worried my anemia had gotten worse. It seems now my thyroid is acting up. I have to up my dosage. At least my anemia hasn't gotten worse. Cheers to all Torrey (281/177/160)
