I have been losing my balance for about a month or so and it just hiut me that this could be a vitamin def. Anyone know which one? I can be standing dead level still and just start leaning then next thing i am in the floor, or as in the case recently, on the pavement at the gas station or against the wall. i do not get dizzy, have no ear problems and have been chalking it up to old age. i was feeding my yorkies the other day and bent down and started tipping over to the side. Could not catch myself. Any ideas? I feel sure it is a def of some sort after I got to thinking about it. Thanks

I've noticed that I seem to be losing my balance a little more frequently and just thought it was me being clumsy. I was drying my foot off, had it propped on a chair and almost fell to the side. I've noticed a few other times where I feel like I'm losing my balance. I haven't felt dizzy or anything either, just a little unsteady once in awhile. I haven't felt like it's become a problem but I am watching myself to see if it becomes more frequent. If you have had it had more than you think, I wonder if it's a potential B deficiency? Linda

I experienced this early on, probably about six months out. I had a potassium deficiency. I was taking high blood pressure medication as well. Usually people who take HBP medication are supplemented with potassium. Because of the weightloss, I no longer needed the medication, so my doctor stopped it and put me on potassium for a few months and the problem was corrected. I forget the type of blood test, but I believe that it had something to do with electrolytes or something. Anyway, I called my surgeon and described the symptoms, because I would be walking and literally fall to the ground. He specifically told me what test my doctor should order. I've been fine ever since.

Thanks. i don't take any BP meds or any other kind for that matter except my sleeping pill. I feel almost sure it is a vitamin def. Just don't know what kind. i am sslack with my vitamins. I know better but i don't eat like the rest of you. I have to eat all kinds of things to keep weight on so I felt like I was getting enough. Maybe not.

That's interesting. My PCP still has me on 1/2 pill of HBP med. because it includes a diuretic. I still have slight edema in my legs. I guess I should make sure I have some bananas more often. That never would have occurred to me. Thanks, Linda

Delores, be sure to have your B-12, B-1 and B-6 checked. I had problems early out with this and it was my B-12 and B-1. Once I started adding the Thiamin and a super B complex my symptoms subsided. I also had problems with potassium but didn't get dizzy or lose my balance then, my symptom was leg cramps only. Remember those vitamins, I have had to refocus on them myself seems like the further out I am from my surgery date, I have become a slacker. Dana

http://www.vitamins-supplements.org/vitamin-deficiency.php will suggest a possible B-12 deficiency... If nothing else, best to get it checked out, eh! Good luck, - Carol

Thanks!!!!!!!!! I have the B-12 covered. I self-inject each month. Those levels are always high which he says is okay.
