Now I am one of you!
A year ago today I went under the knife (laparoscopic RNY); in 4 days I was out of the hospital, in 2 weeks I was back at work. I suffered no complications or adverse effects/reactions since then.
A year later, I have lost 140 lbs and have only 13 lbs. to reach my personal goal of 275. Had anyone told me 12 months ago that in a year I would have lost 1/3 of my body weight, 16 inches off my waist and 4 inches off my neck, I would have hurt myself laughing. I AM laughing now, but nothing hurts (ok, my back still hurts a liiiittle bit...).
I can eat anything I want; I am however adament about staying away from sugar. I have mastered finding Kosher, sugar-free anything and everything (did you know that Baskin Robbins makes a sugar free hard candy that tastes JUST like a creamsicle?)
I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Herron and the entire staff of Gastric surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital (NYC) and to United Health Care for covering every test and procedure I have needed before during and after surgery.
A wish for all of you of continued success and health.
Shalom LeVine
