Having trouble with the liquid diet.
I tryed to do the liqiud diet yesterday did good until about 6:30. I got really hungry I realized then I was not getting as much calorie intake as I should. I just got a new protein drink it has 120 cal 24 proteins and 1 sugar per 8ozs.I had three of them. I am thinking along with the 2 cups of broth 2 popciles and 1 s/f jello it was still not enough. I then started to think about thanksgiving and I plan to use my small plate and have small servings and try to start the liqiud diet on Friday again. I know I can do this. But head hunger is really powerful. I guess as along as I keep on trying. I need to have will power.
Wendy - hey I too tried the protien drink liquid and failed. But I did learn something yesterday...I did do protien drinks (3) and I ate shirmp ****tail for snack and peanuts for snack - I just had to have something solid in my pouch. I got on the scales and lost 2 lbs. So today I had the drink for Breakfast & a snack of banana & peanuts then later more water 64 oz - coffee etc. I did get jello in yesterday too. So don't be so hard on yourself - Dana did say that we are all different and that is what works for her...God bless. deb k
Wendy, when I feel like I need something more I eat 2 hard boiled eggs (keep some hard boiled ready or you will grab something you shouldn't have). Usually holds me over several hours until I do another "Lo Carb Slimfast", I add unflavored Unjury to mine, throw that in blender and it gives me 40 grams of protein each drink.
Been doing this since surgery and it works well for me, seems like the only thing that brings me right back.

I find when I do the protein drink diets, I'm dying for some substance to put in my mouth. So I make a 1 gallon pitcher of nectar (Water-based protein) and drink that all day as my water intake drink and pre-plan my meals like cheese and sausage for breakfast, salad w/ Chicken for lunch and Meat/Seafood for dinner. The protein drink keeps me from being hungry when I sip on it all day. The solid meals are almost all protein. I've done this twice anddropped 5 pounds almost overnight. It's not something I could do everyday, it gets old fast but it does work.

why not try protein bars. At least those will stay in your pouch. Liquid protein drinks just pass thru. Remember the leak test? We drank that stuff and we watched it flow right out of the pouch. but at least protein bars will stay in the pouch longer so you won't be as hungry.
The south beach ones are good and low in sugar. also the pure protein bars are high in protein and low in sugar.

you are not failing, the diet is. We are not intended to live on liquids. Our pouches are designed to let the liquids flow right through like a funnel.
it isn't lack of will power, it is an unrealistic plan. the kind of plan that led to surgery, the old diet mentality. the reason so many people are regaining.
get on track with good healthy whole foods including a good balance of nutrients, you will be satiated, not suffering. if you dont know how to start, see a dietican.
it is the only way to long term weight maintainece. there is no magic shake or liquid diet that will make you maintain for life. only a healthy lifestyle including the boring old good nutrition, appropriate intake and heart pounding sweating exercise will do it. there are no shortcuts.
