Post the things that you'd like to work on in the next 8 weeks. The challenge will last from today until Christmas day which is as you many have guessed - 8 weeks from today. Makes some positive changes. Work on getting in your water or vitamins. Work on getting in your protein. Working on moving your body to get it fit and toned.
We'll have a weekly check in for those participating. Remember you can jump in at any time.
Some suggestions of things to keep in mind:
1. Try not to post "I want to lose 10 lbs by Christmas" - we all know this far post-op that it is hard to truly gauge how much weight our bodies will lose and how fast/slow it will go. It would be wiser to chose eating, water, vitamin and fitness goals that might yield weight loss when done consistently over the 8 week period.
2. Try not commit to doing anything every single solitary day during the 8 weeks. Do not set yourself up for failure from the start. We all know that is derned near impossible to do something every day. Illness, problems, work, family and just plain life gets in the way. Setting a goal of "I'm going to get 100 oz of water in and all my vitamins in at least 5 days a week every week" is better than saying you are going to do it 7 days a week. See my point? (See I actually did pay attention at Weigh****chers and other therapy type meetings).
3. Be sure to set yourself some cool reward at the end for a job well done. Whether it is buying yourself something if it is in the budget, a spa treatment, or just going to the library and getting a good book and allowing yourself the free time to doing nothing else but sit and read - go for it!
So what'll it be. Name your own poison. LOL!
I've done decent with my goals... upping water intake and being more consistent with vitamins/protein on weekends. Still room for improvement.
Where I had not been meeting my goal is exercise. Just wasn't getting myself back to the gym, HOWEVER, I went back yesterday morning and went again this morning so looks like this'll be my Week 3 on goal. LOL!
Funny thing is I'm getting up about 1.5 hours earlier to go to the gym then I had been getting up and my energy level yesterday and so far today is very, very high. Much improved over last week or even the weekend. Think the exercise made the difference? Duh. Yea, baby.
When I step away from exercise... I get so tired and lazy. When I do exercise regularly, I have so much more energy. I have a better body awareness. I just plain feel better overall. Why do I let it get away from me for stretches? Kind of an all or nothing deal. Geez. Nothing like all or nothing thinking hasn't been an issue for me in my life. A reoccuring theme. Perfectionism. All-or-nothing. Yup. That's me.
Have a great day. Have a great week. Have a great holiday.
Kathy
I got to the pool only once because I was out of town at a conference. I kept up a lot of walking and not much eating at the conference--and came home a pound lighter!
Still looking for a pedometer battery. The hardward store had everykind but the one I need. Lots of swimming coming up. No work tomorrow so i'll go then. Maybe even be one of the few in the pool Thurs am, since it sets me up to be calm and happy...and calm and happy puts me in a good place to eat properly the rest of the day.
Have a good one!

I am doing better on the cutting out the candy goal. I only had 3 cookies and a little bag of m and m's today. I am going to control it so that I don't slip back into the old habits. I haven't been exercising. so I am going to strive to go for a walk tomorrow. I have lost 4 pounds so far this week. therefore, i am feeling pretty well. I am getting back on track and i have logged back on today to remind myself of the challenge I undertook. so far.. so good.
still sticking to - 1) exercising 3-4 times per week.
2) Cutting out sugar and lots of other refined carbs: Doing pretty good with this one, I have had a few "treats" but definitely not daily like it has been.
Going to add daily crunches (hopefully 2 times per day) and a few other floor exercises at home.
Thanks - DeAnna
