I am 3 years out..and will not be cooking this year. We will be having 2 dinners though..one on Thursday and 1 on Friday. I will be making an asiago pork tenderloin to take on THursday..along with a sf pumpkin pie.
Friday I will make a sf fruit salad and another pumpkin dish to take to my friends. I will concentrate on protein today and tommorrow. And take my own small plate to eat from.
LIfe is way too short to stress about 1 day!!

Here is my sugar free egg custard recipe ... it is really good!
An old-fashioned baked custard recipe made with eggs and milk
1 cup evaporated milk, undiluted
1 cup water
4 large egg yolks
1/3 cup splenda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
fresh nutmeg or ground nutmeg
In a medium saucepan, combine milk and water; heat to scalding. Beat egg yolks slightly; add sugar, salt and vanilla. Gradually add hot milk to eggs, stirring constantly. Divide into 4 custard cups and set in a pan of ho****er. Bake at 325° for 50 minutes, or until tip of knife comes out clean when inserted in custard. Sprinkle with ground nutmeg or grate fresh nutmeg over top of each custard. Serve warm or cold.
Serves 4.
It's only one meal, so if you want to splurge a bit THAT ONE MEAL go ahead. But it's right back on track after that - don't make it a license to splurge all week or all weekend. Get all unhealthy leftovers out of the house. Send them home with your guests even if you have to pack the containers yourself. Keep the leftover turkey, but send the stuffing, potatoes, pies, etc home with others - don't take "no" for an answer. Have plenty of gladware containers on hand for this purpose. I just bought 3 packs of containers so right after dinner, i can dump all the bad foods in them and send them home with my sisters. Good luck!
Going to my cousins, so no leftovers, except the dishes we made to bing over there. I'm making Paula Dean's Spinach/Swiss casserole (It's Low Carb!). I usually have just a dab of this and that. Never eat til I'm full. I will wait and have dessert about 3 hours after dinner. I eat dessert only 3 times a year. My son't B-day, Thanksgiving Pie and on vacation once. Sweets are my downfall, so I try not to indulge too often.
till trying to get to goal. I finally got rid of the water weight from plastics, so I about 159/158. If I can see 155 by X-mas, it would be the best present ever!

Not expecting any problems from Thanksgiving - I can eat anything that's put out, and since the main focus is turkey, I know I'm guaranteed a good protein source to be there.
My brother is making fresh bread, a cheesecake and a baked green bean dish. My best friend is making turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, a couple of different kinds of pie. I'm bringing wine, including a bottle from Brazil (where I had my surgery). Should be wonderful!
This is my 2nd T-day post-op, but the first where I'll really be able to eat!

Thanks everyone for the great advice! I am going to do the saucer trick and stay away from the pies and cakes. I am going to make the yummy s/f custard as my special treat so I think I can do this!!!
Thanks again for your support and sugguestions! I guess I have been freakin' out over nothing because I know it is in my hands!!! (lets just keep my hands away from the dressing and pumkin pie!!
)
Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

I am a bit confused by all these posts. While i am nervous about thanksgiving it is more of wanting to eat and not being able to rather than overeating. Perhaps it is b/c i am only 7 weeks out. Is there a point in time when we can actually eat a regular portion of food?? I am limited to about 2 TBLS of food. Hopefully, that gets better but i can't imagine it getting much better. Can't we just taste a teaspoon of stuffing? Rather than continuing to always deny ourselves everything??? Just annoyed that i always feel as though i'm punished and can't eat. Boy, i hope this gets better.
