Friday Update
I saw the nurse practitioner today. I've known her since first grade so I trust her more than I usually trust those people . The labs were ordered and drawn. Now, we wait. *twiddle thumb icon here*
I felt terrible this morning but I'm feeling better this afternoon. I've tentatively scheduled for my Mother to bring me home to Texas on Thursday. Then, we'll evaluate when she will leave. I'm going to keep her hostage!!! She'll likely return home on the following Tuesday. The Captain is off from work this call schedule to tend to family so he will be home for two full weeks so that I can properly recover. I don't believe there is one certain thing that caused my illness but, rather, a conglomerate of actions. I have not allowed myself time to recover properly from my last two surgeries and I've been working too hard and too long. So, I've decided to go back to school, open a new business, and purchase more investments. I'm kidding!!
This has been a HUGE wake up call for me in terms of trauma to the body and how fragile it can quickly become when it is neglected by its owner. I'll keep updating as I know things; otherwise, we're recovering and I'll see you all around the boards!
Thank you all for everything!
Hugs and love,
Vanessa
Vanessa,
Hey, hon!
Are you blaming yourself or taking some blame for bowel obstructions and kinks? Do you think your working too much and stuff contributed to that?
Isn't that it just something that happens to some folks based on our altered anatomies?
I definitely believe that we need to take gentle care of ourselves especially after we've had surgery of any kind. We need to baby ourselves and often we don't.
Hugs back at ya, Kathy
Excellent question, Kathy! Excellent! You made me re-read what I wrote! I can see how it appears that I've blamed "actions" of all my own for what happened but "actions" are "actions" of many things and not solely indicative of my "behavior."
I would not call it "blame" because I do not feel "shame." Kinked and/or obstructed bowels can and do occur to all people regardless of whether or not they have had their anatomies altered. I do believe that some people are more susceptible to adhesions than others but that is in their genetic make up. I do, however, believe in taking personal responsibility.
The HOW or WHY I arrived at the conclusion that I should be taking better care of myself isn't, to me, as important as realizing that I need to take care of myself better and then follow through with a plan, a goal, and a finally a realized achievement.
Hugs,
Vanessa
PS I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about!!!
