I saw my doctor today after suffering through work most of the day. Around one the pain became so intense I was in tears!! MY boss had no idea I wasn't well. but she was great. She called my oldest son to come drive me to the doctors office. My surgeon is out of town until Monday, when I will see him at 1:15. My doc thinks it is most likely a swelling around the opening to my tummy since I can do liquids. He put me on nexium and liquids until I see the surgeon. I really don't want more surgery..but I will do what I have to.

Most likely they will do an endoscopy and take a look in there. If you haven't had one, it is pretty easy. They give you an IV and then when they are ready you get an injection in the IV and you are out cold. While you are asleep, they put a scope down your throat into your pouch and take a look. If you had a stricture, they would dialate the stoma right then and there. After the test, they will then have a better idea of what is going on. You even get the report before you leave and it'll have color pictures of your insides on it. They should be able to see the swelling or ulcerations in there. It is ulcers, the treatment is usually meds like Carafate and Protonix.
Don't think too much about additional surgery until they tell you that is the case. Most likely that won't be it.
Take care!
