Hi all --- I've been lurking for some time now, and have decided since I am 14 months out, that is a respectable length of time to 'graduate' over to the experts board!! Hope that's okay!! Anyway, I am a big fan of the lemon tea nectar for my source of protein. I do not eat much, which is another post, so I really do rely on getting my protein in with these drinks!! But now that the cool weather is approaching, at least here in Virginia, I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for yummy warm drinks? Something that mixes and doesn't clump?? I would sure appreciate any hints/suggestions. Thanks donna

I made a huge crockpot of warm apple cider flavored with whole cloves, whole nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, orange slices and lemon slices yesterday and it was delicious! There are tons of recipes online for warmed apple cider and many that don't require a crockpot, either. Hope this helps! Carol

Hi, Donna, I like decaf coffee with isopure chocolate protein powder. I have tried lots of brands and some are a bit clumpy. You need to make sure the coffee is not TOO hot, so it will mix nicely...but I love it. The same brand is good with vanilla as well. happy Thanksgiving, Jeannie

Hi Jeannie, my surgery month twin!! Thanks for this idea. I underestand that the temperature is the clue to no clumping!! I'll try it! love donna VA GIRLS ROCK!!!

I get most of my protein from meat sUnflavored Unjury protein powder. I put it in my decaf coffee and have it twice a day, its warm and I honestly can't taste the protein, it has 20 grams per serving. You just can't put it in boiling hot coffee, you have to let it cool down a bit, or put a couple of ice cubes in it. I order Unjury on line at Unjury.com. Their chocolate and unflavored are the best. Good luck, Jen

Hi Jen, I think I am going to have to try the unflavored unjury. Seems like a good way to get in the protein. Thanks so much for this tip, and also how to order it. I am totally in a rut!! love donna

It's best to "temper" the protein powder prior to putting it into a hot beverage. Just put your protein powder of choice into a glass or measuring cup with a little water and thoroughly mix it into a paste...thin enough to pour into your hot beverage. Pouring it in pre-mixed a little at a time stirring constantly helps eliminate the lumps. Some protein powders get better results than others doing this...Unjury as mentioned is good and the Optimum Nutrition (ON) Any Whey unflavored protein is another that works VERY well. IDS Vanilla and Vanilla Cinnamon also do well in coffee if a cup of joe is what floats your boat. Good Luck!!! Cards Fan Springfield, MO STEP OFF THE SIDELINES AND GET IN THE GAME!

Hi, thanks for the tip! I even have the IDS vanilla/cinnamon so I can try that right away. I just didn't know what to do with it!! I guess the secret is the temperature, or pre-mixing it. You gave me some good ideas, and I appreciate it. Thanks a lot! love donna

Donna, I don't eat a lot either and count on my protein drinks. I tried tons of different ones and what i ended up liking is EAS 100% Whey. The chocolate I drink like hot chocolate everyday for one of my drinks(sometimes 2 times) a day. I put 1 1/2 scoops in a thermal cup and heat about 8 oz of water in the microwave and pour it in and stir. I used a little thermometer(sp?) for a long time to make sure I didn't get it hotter than 130°.Sometimes I stir in a packet of Nestles Carb hot chocolate. It has splenda and only 25 calories. I use the strawberry EAS with a few frozen strawberries some ice and some cold water and use the Magic Bullet to make it almost like ice cream-I eat it with a spoon and it is soooo good. The vanilla I do the same as with the strawberry but add a few frozen pieces of peach. Yummy!!! I like the taste of the EAS and love the fact that it can just be stirred up and it completely dissolves. Hope this helps. It is hard to find one that works for you as everyone is different. Susan
